Mobilizing army and police to repair schools for new school year opening

(NLDO) - The Prime Minister requested to focus on improving educational facilities to ensure conditions for the new school year opening for students.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed Official Dispatch No. 156 to the Chairmen of the People's Committees of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh provinces; and the Ministers of National Defense, Public Security, and Education and Training on focusing on improving educational facilities to ensure conditions for the new school year opening for students.

The dispatch clearly stated that, through understanding the situation, the work of repairing educational facilities in some localities due to natural disasters, especially in Ha Tinh , Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, has not been completed while the time to organize the opening ceremony of the new school year is near.

Therefore, to ensure the organization of the new school year opening ceremony for students, the Prime Minister requested the Chairmen of the People's Committees of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh provinces to direct a specific review of the work to restore educational facilities affected by storm No. 5 and recent natural disasters in the area.

Continue to mobilize maximum resources and forces (especially the military, police, and youth union members) to speed up the progress, even faster, to repair and complete all schools and school sites that have had their roofs blown off, are damaged, or are unsafe, to repair desks and chairs, and to supplement books, teaching equipment, and school supplies for students.

According to the Prime Minister's request, work needs to be accelerated to ensure safety, adequate conditions for organizing the opening ceremony and basic learning conditions for students. Students must not be left without schools, classes, teachers, books, or school supplies.

For schools and campuses that have collapsed or are severely damaged and have not been restored or are unsafe, there must be a plan to arrange temporary locations for students to start classes and study. This work must be completed and reported to the Prime Minister by September 4.

The Head of Government assigned the Minister of Education and Training to continue to direct and urge the education sector of localities, especially Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, to review and proactively advise local Party committees and authorities to direct and mobilize forces and resources to quickly overcome the impact of natural disasters on educational institutions.

Along with that, there is a proactive and timely plan to support books, teaching equipment, and learning materials for educational institutions damaged by natural disasters at the request of the locality to ensure learning conditions for students at the beginning of the new school year.

For the Ministers of the Ministries of National Defense and Public Security, the Prime Minister assigned to continue directing military and police units stationed in the area to mobilize maximum forces to support the cleaning of schools and classrooms and repair educational facilities according to local requests.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long was assigned by the Prime Minister to directly continue to direct and urge relevant ministries, branches and localities to implement this telegram.
