Connections from the heart create miracles

The last Sunday of October every year has become a special occasion for students who have overcome difficulties to study well in Ho Chi Minh City. This year, 345 students continue to be motivated when receiving the Scholarship for Talent Encouragement - 1&1 Scholarship organized and awarded by the Ho Chi Minh City Scholarship Fund.

The 1&1 Scholarship for Talent Promotion was initiated and implemented by the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Promotion of Education since the 1999-2000 school year. This is a scholarship model with profound humanity, based on the method of "a benefactor accompanying a student" throughout the university journey. Therefore, the program is also called "scholarship from the heart", expressing sharing and belief in the will to rise of the learner.

In 25 years of formation and development, the program has become the most influential campaign in fundraising activities for education promotion in the city.

Organizations and individuals at home and abroad, through voluntary contributions, have accompanied the Ho Chi Minh City Education Promotion Fund to support studious students.

Thanks to that, the program has had sustainable resources, actively contributing to human resource training and building a learning society.

From the first 5 students sponsored by 5 benefactors, up to now, there have been 2,888 students receiving 1&1 scholarships with the support of 684 individuals and 57 businesses and units.

The total funding for 4-6 years of university study is over 29.6 billion VND. Notably, 2,346 students have graduated and become doctors, engineers, teachers, businessmen, and managers in many localities.

Many of them continue to study for master's or doctorate degrees, and are honored as outstanding young citizens, outstanding young teachers, or outstanding young doctors.

In 2025 alone, the program will continue to help 345 students overcome difficulties with a total budget of 1,781 billion VND. Of these, 99 students will receive scholarships for the first time, including 10 students from poor households; many students have high scores to enter university, even being admitted directly; some are from the Chinese, Cham, and Khmer ethnic groups. At the same time, 246 students will continue to receive scholarships for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th years.

More than just financial support, scholarships also open up strong relationships. Many benefactors see students as family, encouraging and supporting them spiritually; many families maintain sponsorship for decades.

The mature students from the scholarship class return to support their juniors, forming a meaningful tradition of "following the footsteps". This is also a culture of kindness that contributes to creating the brand of the program.

The program also received the support of many large organizations such as JX Mekong Company, Lawrence S. Ting Community Support Fund, Singapore Business Association in Vietnam, Thien Long Group, and many other associations, groups and donors. That silent contribution has sustained the 1&1 model in districts, wards and communes in Ho Chi Minh City.

The 1&1 Scholarship Model for Talent Promotion has been highly appreciated by the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, People's Committee and Vietnam Association for Promotion of Education for many years, considering it an initiative with strong influence, contributing to training human resources for the city and the country.

The Ho Chi Minh City Association for Promotion of Education hopes that the program will continue to take root in the community, connecting more kind hearts to sow the seeds of knowledge. The 1&1 Scholarship will also be a launching pad for learning dreams to fly high and far in the journey to create "Ho Chi Minh City to become a learning city".
