US President Donald Trump landed in Kuala Lumpur on the morning of October 26, where he will attend the 47th ASEAN Summit in the Malaysian capital, the first stop on a five-day Asian tour that will take him to Malaysia, Japan and South Korea.
At the tarmac area near the VIP complex of Kuala Lumpur airport, he was welcomed by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution.
As Mr Trump arrived, a waiting crowd waved American and Malaysian flags, while Malaysian performers in traditional costumes sang and danced in welcome. Mr Trump happily swayed his hips and raised his arms in sync with Mr Anwar.

Mr. Trump then took two national flags from the crowd and posed for photos, then greeted the performers while waiting for The Beast supercar.
“It's unbelievable that I got to see him in person,” said Azizi Manaf, 19, a student at the National Academy of Arts and one of those chosen to greet the president.
This visit to Malaysia is Mr. Trump's first appearance in Southeast Asia during his second term.
For Malaysia, this is the third visit by a sitting US President, and the first since 2014, when former President Barack Obama visited. Previously, Lyndon B. Johnson was the only US President to have visited Malaysia (1966).
Malaysia hosted the 47th ASEAN Summit and related meetings from October 26-28, with the participation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and new Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
Mr Trump's visit is seen as a milestone for Prime Minister Anwar, who has been proactive in playing a role in global politics .
As ASEAN chairman, Mr. Anwar brought Thailand and Cambodia to the negotiating table in Malaysia in late July, attended by special envoys from the United States and China.
Cambodia and Thailand are expected to sign a declaration on maintaining peace on the border on October 26, with Mr. Trump as a witness. The US president previously asserted that he had “ended eight wars in just eight months” and called himself “president of peace.”
