Facing Malaysian youth player Oo Shan Zi – the tournament's second seed – Vu Thi Trang started impressively, winning the first set quickly 15-7. However, the 18-year-old opponent unexpectedly fought back in the second set, making good use of long rallies to equalize the score at 1-1 with a 15-12 victory.
Entering the deciding set, the home player demonstrated the composure of a former world number one, consistently maintaining her lead. Despite Oo Shan Zi leveling the score at 9-9 and then 15-15, Vu Thi Trang remained focused, capitalizing on her opponent's mistakes to win 17-15, thus deservedly claiming the championship.
Earlier in the semi-finals, she defeated Eng Ler Qi – the third seed from Malaysia – with a score of 2-0. On her way to the final, Vu Thi Trang also successively defeated players from Malaysia, North Korea, and Thailand without losing a single set.
In the men's doubles event, the pair Nguyen Dinh Hoang and Tran Dinh Manh competed in the final against the pair Weeraphat Phakjarung and Tanupat Viriyangkura (Thailand), which took place on the same day.
After concluding the tournament in Ninh Binh, the players will travel to Bac Ninh to continue competing in another international tournament starting on October 28th.
