Co Huong resettlement area is built on top of Poom Phai hill. The stilt houses of the Thai ethnic group stand out, sturdy among the mountains and forests.

Co Huong resettlement area is built under the Project to arrange and stabilize residents in areas at high risk of flash floods, landslides in mountainous districts in the period of 2021-2025 of Thanh Hoa province. The completion of electricity infrastructure, clean water, and internal roads creates favorable conditions for people to settle down.

Ms. Lo Thi Doan, a resident of Co Huong, said: “My family has 4 people, the main occupation is farming. Having a stable house and no longer having to worry about the rainy season, we feel more secure in working and taking care of our children."

Mr. Lo Van Khuong, Deputy Village Chief, Head of the Front Work Committee of Ngam Village, shared: Ngam Village has 139 households with nearly 700 people, divided into 3 areas. Co Huong resettlement area has 36 households, mainly Thai ethnic people. The resettlement area was built by the State in 2021, put into use in 2022 to help people stabilize their lives, work and produce with peace of mind.

People in Co Huong mainly raise cows, chickens and ducks, with more than 20 households raising about 2,000 chickens and cultivating 13.8 hectares of rice in two crops. Some households, such as Lo Van Kinh's family, have also experimented with raising bamboo rats, both for breeding and for commercial purposes, contributing to improving income and creating more diversity in livelihoods.
