Immediately after the Lunar New Year holiday, the atmosphere of agricultural labor and production spread throughout the communes and wards of Mong Cai City. Farmers enthusiastically got back to work, hoping for a year of favorable weather, a bountiful harvest, and, in the immediate future, a successful Spring 2025 crop production.
Adhering closely to the 2025 work theme "Breakthrough and acceleration in economic development," and thoroughly implementing the City People's Committee's directives on agricultural production, communes and wards, along with relevant agencies, are actively carrying out tasks in the spring crop season.
According to the plan, the entire city will plant a total of 800 hectares of rice and nearly 1,600 hectares of various vegetables (corn, potatoes, peanuts, soybeans, root vegetables, etc.) in the spring crop. The communes of Hai Dong, Hai Tien, Hai Xuan, and Van Ninh have been assigned the largest production areas. To achieve the targets, it is necessary to organize the supply of agricultural materials effectively, for farmers to proactively implement techniques to cope with weather conditions, control pests and diseases, ensure irrigation, use fertilizers in a balanced and efficient manner, and to replicate high-quality production linkage models along the value chain.
To ensure the best planting season and contribute to a vibrant work atmosphere from the beginning of the year, all communes and wards simultaneously organized the Spring 2025 Planting Festival on the 6th day of the Lunar New Year. People began cleaning irrigation canals, sanitizing fields, plowing and drying the soil, harvesting leftover winter crops, sowing seedlings, and planting new seeds... Modern agricultural equipment and machinery were put into operation after the Tet holiday.
Hai Dong commune was the venue for this year's Spring Festival. City leaders attended and directly participated with farmers in plowing the fields and cultivating vegetables. The solemn ceremony of "awakening the land, inaugurating spring and breaking ground" was conducted with the meaning of praying for favorable weather, a bountiful harvest, and prosperity and happiness for the people in the new year. This contributed to preserving the unique traditional culture of the northeasternmost region of the country and affirmed the important role of agriculture in the local development in the current period.
To support farmers in spring crop production, the City People's Committee directed communes and wards to actively coordinate with specialized agencies to prepare all necessary resources. Specifically, the Center for Agricultural Technical Services provided guidance on appropriate cropping patterns, techniques, and structures based on local conditions. The Eastern Irrigation Company Limited developed a schedule for supplying irrigation water to the entire city. The People's Committees of communes and wards strengthened coordination in inspecting and monitoring the production, business, and trading of agricultural supplies; promptly preventing and handling activities involving counterfeit and substandard goods that violate State regulations... In particular, continuous monitoring and assessment of production conditions are necessary to promptly advise and propose solutions to any emerging issues.
In 2025, the city aims to restructure the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sectors towards efficiency, sustainability, and multi-value integration; and to rapidly rebuild and restore agricultural, forestry, and fisheries production damaged by Typhoon Yagi to contribute to economic growth. The focus will be on encouraging the development of green, organic, circular agriculture, large-scale commodity production, and the application of high technology; developing concentrated, large-scale agricultural commodity production areas, organizing production along the value chain, OCOP products, and key export-oriented products, linked with the establishment, issuance, and management of planting area codes, and the establishment and expansion of disease-free livestock farming areas.
In 2025, agricultural production development in the province will continue to be implemented synchronously with a strong shift in mindset from agricultural production to agricultural economics, promoting restructuring towards ecological, green, circular agriculture and developing strengths and key products. Focus will be placed on implementing planning and mechanisms, policies, schemes, and projects in the development of organic agriculture and key provincial agricultural product chains by 2025, with a vision to 2030; coordinating the implementation of the project to develop concentrated fruit-growing areas in Dam Ha and Tien Yen; and implementing state support policies related to agriculture to improve production efficiency... |
