Synchronously deploy solutions to prevent and control dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease and COVID-19 during the peak months of June and July 2025

(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On June 20, 2025, the Ministry of Health issued Plan No. 833/KH-BYT on implementing a peak action campaign to prevent and control dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease and COVID-19. Implementing the direction of the Ministry of Health, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong has just directed and requested localities to proactively take action, closely coordinate with the health sector to synchronously deploy epidemic prevention and control solutions, especially during the peak months of June and July 2025.

Accordingly, the People's Committees of districts and towns are required to closely direct communes and residential groups, launching a movement for the whole population to participate in disease prevention and control. In particular, it is necessary to mobilize the community to implement measures such as removing unnecessary water containers, turning upside down or covering domestic water containers to destroy mosquito larvae - the agents that cause dengue fever.

For hand, foot and mouth disease, the health sector and local authorities need to increase propaganda and guidance for households, preschools and primaryschools to regularly wash hands for young children. Along with that, continue to propagate COVID-19 prevention measures such as wearing masks in public places and limiting unnecessary gatherings.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism shall coordinate with the media and the Department of Health to promote propaganda on disease prevention and control. Propaganda content must be diverse, flexible, and appropriate for each target group to raise awareness, help people understand and proactively implement preventive measures against dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease, and COVID-19.

The Department of Education and Training has drastically implemented measures to prevent and control epidemics, especially hand, foot and mouth disease, in nurseries and kindergartens. Educational facilities must be fully equipped with hand washing facilities and soap, arranged in convenient locations for children and caregivers to easily use. At the same time, it is necessary to clean classrooms, disinfect the surfaces of tables, chairs, and toys daily with soap or common detergents.

Educational institutions need to monitor students' health, promptly detect and report suspected cases to local health authorities to organize examination, treatment and quick outbreak handling, preventing the spread of disease in the school environment.

The Department of Health shall carry out communication tasks according to Plan No. 525/KH-BYT dated April 22, 2025 of the Ministry of Health ; coordinate with relevant units to promote propaganda, guide people to apply disease prevention measures and change behaviors to improve health. Take the lead and coordinate with the Department of Finance to propose funding for epidemic prevention, control, vaccination and training to improve preventive medicine capacity at the local level; include key monitoring funding in regular expenditures.

At the same time, strengthen coordination between the preventive and treatment health systems in monitoring infectious diseases according to current regulations; direct medical facilities to ensure adequate human resources, drugs, chemicals, and equipment for epidemic prevention and control. At the same time, organize interdisciplinary inspection teams to monitor the implementation of the direction of the Ministry of Health and the City People's Committee; at the same time, synthesize and evaluate the effectiveness of the peak campaign to prevent and control dengue fever, hand, foot, and mouth disease, and COVID-19./.
