Deploying peak month of drug prevention and control

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Doan Anh Dung has just signed a document to send to departments, branches, sectors, the Provincial Fatherland Front and mass organizations; People's Committees of districts, towns and cities on the implementation of the peak month of drug prevention and control (June 2023). Accordingly, in order to improve the effectiveness of propaganda work, attract the attention of each organization, individual and the whole society in drug prevention and control, the Provincial People's Committee requests departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of districts, towns and cities and proposes the Provincial Fatherland Front and mass organizations according to their functions and tasks to organize and implement the peak month of drug prevention and control in the whole province (June 2023) with the theme: "Resolutely and effectively prevent and control drugs, enhance responsibility, proactively coordinate - For a drug-free community". In particular, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Provincial Police to launch a peak campaign to attack and suppress drug-related crimes throughout the province. Strengthen the fight against and eradicate complicated drug-related spots and hotspots; Focus on investigating and destroying large drug trafficking and transportation organizations and lines, inter-district and inter-provincial. Improve the effectiveness of coordination between specialized forces in drug prevention and control. Direct local police to strengthen screening, statistics, and grasp the situation of drug addicts and illegal drug users for strict management, especially in key and complicated areas, with a large concentration of workers in industrial parks, export processing zones, large construction projects, etc. Proactively coordinate closely with relevant authorities to actively implement the work of identifying addiction status, proactively prepare records and apply appropriate drug rehabilitation measures. Advise and propose the Provincial People's Committee to direct the resolution of difficulties and obstacles beyond its authority in the process of implementing drug prevention and control work in the province.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested the Provincial Border Guard Command and related sectors to: Direct forces to closely coordinate with the police force to combat and destroy drug crime lines and organizations on the sea route, transported by post and express delivery. Step up propaganda to raise awareness of the law on drug prevention and control for fishermen on coastal routes and areas.

Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs: Continue to review, propose repairs, upgrades and new construction of drug rehabilitation facilities to meet the requirements of drug rehabilitation work. Review and evaluate difficulties and obstacles, and find solutions to improve the effectiveness of drug rehabilitation and post-rehabilitation management. Promote propaganda on drug rehabilitation and post-rehabilitation management at drug treatment facilities and vocationaltraining facilities.

Department of Health : Urgently review the facilities and human resources of the health care system; publish a list of health care facilities qualified to determine drug addiction status, especially commune-level health stations; closely coordinate with the police force to strengthen the implementation of drug addiction status determination at the grassroots level.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to organize rallies and launch propaganda campaigns in response to the month of action for drug prevention and control, creating a vibrant atmosphere and raising the spirit of fighting against drug-related crimes. The remaining departments and branches, based on their assigned tasks, organize activities to effectively implement the peak month of drug prevention and control.
