Dismantling an online football betting ring worth over 80 billion VND

On June 3, the Investigation Police Agency of Vinh City ( Nghe An ) initiated a case and prosecuted 9 defendants for organizing gambling and gambling in the form of football betting. This is a large online gambling ring in the form of football betting in Nghe An province led by Gian Tu Cong (born in 1991, residing in Ha Huy Tap ward, Vinh city, currently living in Ho Chi Minh city).

Previously, Vinh City Police discovered a very secretive online soccer betting gambling ring. Gian Tu Cong used the general manager account to organize gambling in the form of soccer betting on the website “bong88.com” with a number of other people inside and outside the province.

The police determined that this was a very professionally organized network with many tricks to deal with the authorities. All gambling transactions of this group of people were conducted online via smartphones.

During the process of collecting evidence, Vinh City Police identified all the subjects in the football betting organization ring in Nghe An province and Ho Chi Minh City.

After a period of applying professional measures to fight, under the direct direction of the Board of Directors of Nghe An Provincial Police, Vinh City Police successfully broke the case, arresting 09 people all residing in Nghe An province including: Gian Tu Cong, Pham Quang Manh (born in 1991); Nguyen Minh Tai (born in 1992); Nguyen Van Tai (born in 2000); Nguyen Xuan Danh (born in 2001); Nguyen Huu Duc (born in 1993) all residing in Vinh City and Dang Khac Duy (born in 1989, residing in Giang Son Dong commune, Do Luong district, Nghe An); Le Van Son (born in 1989, residing in Ky Son commune, Tan Ky district, Nghe An) and Nguyen Van Le (born in 1983, residing in Xuan Lam commune, Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An).

The police seized evidence of the case: 10 mobile phones, along with other evidence related to the case. Initially, the authorities proved that the amount of money the subjects transacted gambling in the form of football betting from April 2023 to the time of arrest was more than 80 billion VND. Currently, the case is continuing to be investigated and expanded.
