Mercedes-Benz S450 4Matic costs nearly 5 billion VND in Vietnam.
The Mercedes-Benz S450 4Matic is the best-selling version of the S-Class sedan group in the Vietnamese market, mainly thanks to the harmonious balance between price and options. All recalled vehicles were manufactured at the Mercedes-Benz factory in Thailand between July 2019 and November 2020, mostly imported and distributed by Mercedes-Benz Vietnam.
The recall is to fix a watertight defect in the front bulkhead under the wiper blades to prevent electrical short circuits caused by water entering the vehicle.
According to the description, the sticker on the front baffle of the wiper may not meet the requirements for tightness and water may still enter the vehicle if exposed to a large amount of water.
This may cause corrosion at the electrical contacts in that area and result in a short circuit or electrical leakage; as a result, the functions of the active safety systems (Pre-Safe) may be affected and increase the risk of injury, and the vehicle may not start after parking.
It is known that the recall program will take place at authorized Mercedes-Benz Vietnam dealers or service stations from now until December 31, 2027. Vehicles subject to recall will be inspected and repaired free of charge. The repair is estimated to be completed within 2 hours.
For Mercedes-Benz S450 4Matic vehicles subject to global recall by the corporation but imported without official authorization, if requested by the vehicle owner, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam will assist in contacting Mercedes-Benz AG (Germany) to confirm the information, and conduct free repairs according to the announced recall program.
