Submit to the Government the Project on rearranging provincial administrative units in 2025

Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra has just signed a document to the Government on the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units in 2025.

According to the content of the report, the People's Committees of 23 provinces and centrally-run cities (where the administrative political centers of the new provincial-level administrative units are selected) have recently chaired and coordinated with relevant localities to develop 23 project dossiers to rearrange 52 provincial-level administrative units.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has appraised 23 project dossiers above and synthesized and built into a Government project on the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units in 2025.

Currently, the Government's draft project identifies that 52 provincial-level administrative units will be reorganized and 11 provincial-level administrative units will not be reorganized (Hanoi, Hue, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Cao Bang).

Regarding the arrangement plan, there are 23 arrangement plans for 52 provincial-level administrative units to form 23 new provincial-level administrative units.

After the arrangement, the whole country has 34 provincial-level administrative units including 6 centrally-run cities (Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hue, Da Nang, Can Tho and Ho Chi Minh City) and 28 provinces (including: Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Dak Lak, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Vinh Long, Dong Thap, Ca Mau, An Giang).

Also according to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the organization of public opinion collection and approval by People's Councils at all levels showed a high consensus rate, the national average was 96.19% and 100% of People's Councils at provincial, district and communal levels of 52 provinces and cities voted in favor of the policy of rearranging provincial administrative units of their localities.
