This is a loss for the U23 Vietnam team because Phan Tuan Tai is considered the number 1 choice for the left-back position. This defender is also among the most experienced faces of the U23 Vietnam team, along with Nguyen Thai Son, Nguyen Dinh Bac and Luong Duy Cuong.
Phan Tuan Tai is a regular starter for both the national team and the U23 Vietnam team under coach Philippe Troussier. The French coach arranged him to play as a left-sided center-back in a 3-center-back formation.
Phan Tuan Tai missed the opportunity to participate in the 2024 U23 Asia.
