Planting 10 hectares of new mangrove forest

During 2 days (August 12 and 13), Dat Mui Protective Forest Management Board and Tam Giang Protective Forest Management Board coordinated to launch the planting of 10 hectares of new mangrove forest.

The forest is newly planted by propagules on mangrove forest land.

Accordingly, 50 households contracted forest land to prepare the ground to plant 50 hectares of new mangrove forest with a density of 8,000 trees/ha, the household with the largest planting area is about 0.4 ha, the household with the smallest planting area is 0.1 ha. The source of forest planting seeds is carefully selected, the quality of the propagules is guaranteed; the current forest planting season is suitable.

Currently, households have cleared the banks, created the ground and are urgently planting forests. It is expected that by the end of August, the above area will be planted and taken care of, patched, protected and accepted as a forest.

The entire cost of bank clearing, seeds, planting and patching in the first year is supported by the Project “Enhancing climate resilience and creating sustainable income for vulnerable communities dependent on mangrove forests (VM077)”; in the following years, households will take care of it themselves; when the forest exploitation cycle comes, households will enjoy 100% of the profit.
