Researchers from the hospital and the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China spent a decade developing the device and have tested it at Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital.
Unlike today's bulky CT machines, the new CT machine is 135 cm tall and weighs 260 kg.
This type of machine has low radiation, low energy consumption and has many functions such as human-machine dialogue, voice control, movement planning and automatic obstacle avoidance.
The device can be trained to move directly to the patient's bedside for testing and upload the results online in real time, said team leader Xu Ruxiang.
Previously, it often took three or four people to transport a critically ill patient to the CT scan room.
According to expert Xu, this mobile treatment model will significantly improve the efficiency of medical examination and treatment, help save the lives of many critically ill patients and reduce the burden on medical staff.
