Summer, with its long hot weather, is also the peak period for electricity use in many countries, including China. Facing the risk of power shortages this summer, localities in China have called on people to practice energy saving.
The provinces of Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan , Chongqing, Guangdong... have launched an electricity saving campaign for people during the peak heat of this summer from June 1 to August 31. Accordingly, people at different levels of electricity saving will have points accumulated. These points will be converted and deducted directly from the electricity bill or exchanged for rewards of real value.
According to the recent information released by Maoming City, Guangdong Province, since the beginning of this summer, the hot weather has been prolonged, the city's electricity consumption has continuously increased, and the people's demand for electricity has increased sharply. The growth rate of electricity consumption in the whole city from January to May was as high as 8.01%; the electricity consumption of the people in May increased by 27.41% compared to the same period last year. Up to now, the city's load has reached a record high three times.
Therefore, the city government has proposed to save electricity. Accordingly, offices, high-rise buildings as well as houses use air conditioners maintained at 26 degrees Celsius or higher, buildings under 3 floors are encouraged to use stairs, not elevators; lighting systems are used reasonably, prioritizing the use of natural light; power is cut off when electrical equipment is not in use to reduce standby consumption of equipment. Industrial factories adjust production plans scientifically to use electricity reasonably; when power supply is limited, proactively reduce power consumption. At the same time, increase the conversion of energy-saving technology, promote the use of new energy-saving technology and products, gradually eliminate outdated equipment that consumes a lot of electricity.

Facing the hot weather and high temperatures that may occur this year, Chongqing City continues to take active measures to ensure people's electricity needs, such as: Continuing to save electricity in 5 main areas, while strongly promoting and mobilizing people to participate in saving electricity. As a city where people always need to use air conditioning in the summer, one of the leading measures to save electricity in Chongqing is to reasonably adjust the air conditioning temperature, if increasing by 1 degree Celsius, it can save from 7% to 10% of electricity.
In addition, the city also encourages people to form the habit of saving electricity in daily life, such as: Turning off lights when no one is around, turning off unused electrical appliances; using public transport, low buildings using stairs instead of elevators; minimizing the frequency of using high-power electrical appliances, or choosing to use high-power electrical appliances after 10 p.m. every day; for electric vehicles that need to be charged regularly, they can be charged at night (from 0:00 to 8:00) during off-peak hours to both reduce charging costs and reduce peak-hour power consumption...
Last year, Chongqing city adopted many effective electricity-saving measures to ensure people's daily electricity consumption needs in the face of prolonged hot weather and limited power supply.
According to the forecast of the China Meteorological Administration, many places in the north of the country will experience the hottest weather this year in the coming days. The heat wave will last for a long time and be widespread. Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shandong, Henan and many other places will maintain high temperatures. Electricity demand is forecast to continue to increase sharply, so implementing electricity saving is an urgent requirement.
