Military Radio and Television Center won the Vietnam - Thailand International Journalism Super Cup

With a convincing victory in the penalty shootout against the team of the Thai Press Federation, the Army Radio and Television Center (PT-TH) team won the Vietnam - Thailand International Press Super Cup.

On the afternoon of June 8, at Tu Son City Stadium, Bac Ninh Province, the Military Radio and Television Center football team - the new champion of the National Press Agency Football Tournament - Press Cup 2025, represented the Vietnam Journalists Association to play in the Vietnam - Thailand International Press Super Cup match.

Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Head of the Steering Committee of Press Cup 2025 Le Quoc Minh presented flowers and souvenir flags to players of the two teams.

Attending the event were Party Central Committee member, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Head of the Steering Committee for Press Cup 2025 Le Quoc Minh; Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong; President of the Confederation of Thai Journalists (CTJ), President of the Thai Journalists Association under the Royal Thai Government Nakorn Veerapravati.

This is the first time the Press Cup has organized an international friendly match – an important milestone that opens up opportunities for regional journalism to connect through sports .

The confrontation between the Vietnamese and Thai press teams is not only a competition on the field, but also a special occasion for the two traditional presses to strengthen the spirit of friendship and solidarity.

Right after the opening whistle, both teams quickly entered the game with great enthusiasm. In the 4th minute, the Thai Press Association team seized the opportunity to score the opening goal 1-0.

Despite scoring an early opening goal, the Thai Press Association team could not maintain their advantage against the resilience and determination of their opponents.

The players of the Military Training Center team quickly equalized 1-1 for their team after only 5 minutes.

A ball fight between players of two teams

The match continued to be a tight affair as both teams scored 2 goals with a 2-2 draw. However, the drama of the match was pushed up near the end of the first half, striker Ngoc Hung took advantage of a great opportunity to put the ball into the opponent's net, raising the score to 3-2.

In the second half, the Military PT-TH Center team revealed a weakness and the player wearing the number 5 jersey of the Thai Press Federation team took advantage of the opportunity to successfully score, equalizing the score to 3-3.

Once again, the match returned to the starting line. As the match neared its end, players from both teams were determined to break through the opponent's defense line but neither could materialize into a goal.

After 2 official matches ended with a score of 3-3, the 2 teams entered a penalty shootout full of luck.

As a result, with the excellent performance of goalkeeper Hoang Viet when he continuously blocked 3 free kicks from the opponent, the Military Radio and Television Center team won; officially won the Vietnam - Thailand International Press Super Cup.

The match is one of the important and practical events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).

At the same time, it affirms the role of the Press Cup not only as a sports tournament for Vietnamese journalists but also as a bridge connecting the press community, spreading the spirit of solidarity and attachment across all borders.

The match opened a new promising chapter for cooperation and development between Vietnam, Thailand, as well as other countries in the region.
