Mid-Autumn Festival of Technology - Lighting up the spirit of science

Resolution 71-NQ/TW sets education as a strategic breakthrough, turning grassroots initiatives into evidence of policy implementation. At Chuong Duong Secondary School (Hong Ha, Hanoi), the “STEM - Technology Mid-Autumn Festival” activity both arouses interest in learning and affirms the pioneering role of a public school.

Educational innovation does not stop at lectures

During the two days of September 18-19, 2025, the yard of Chuong Duong Secondary School was filled with laughter and the eager eyes of hundreds of students in the program "STEM Experience - Technology Mid-Autumn Festival". Not just a simple experiential activity, the event is a concrete step to implement the spirit of Resolution 71-NQ/TW (Resolution 71) of the Politburo - emphasizing breakthroughs in education, especially in technology, digital skills and innovation in teaching methods.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Van Hong, Principal of the school: “Today's activity is a clear demonstration of the innovative spirit of Resolution 71. We strive to build a modern learning space, where students can access knowledge through practical experiences, and teachers have the opportunity to develop their expertise on the basis of innovation and creativity.”

This event, coordinated by SEPA – STEM Education Promotion Alliance, ECUE Consulting and Services Co., Ltd. and sponsor Ford Vietnam, shows how schools effectively connect the public and private sectors to realize the goals of digital education and integration capacity.

The science experiment performances attracted special attention from students.

The highlight of the program is the system of "learning stations" with modern and intuitive design. Students are divided into groups and take turns experiencing many different fields: at the Science Station - Me and the Environment, they explore sensors measuring light, temperature, humidity, and fine dust; at the Robotics Station, students get acquainted with VEX IQ and ORC robots and program their own robots to overcome obstacles; at the Design-Manufacturing Station, the experiment "Does a wheel have to be round?" helps develop technical thinking; and the STEM x Tradition Station brings a unique connection when students learn math and make star lanterns by hand, connecting modern knowledge with Mid-Autumn culture.

These “learning stations” have transformed the schoolyard into a multi-dimensional creative space – where tradition meets technology, where students become “little inventors” and education is truly connected to life.

Educational innovation cannot stop at slogans. Resolution 71 aims to “train a generation of digital citizens” with the capacity to innovate, integrate and master technology, considering digital transformation and artificial intelligence as the “bloodline connecting” the human resource training strategy (education) and the technology strategy (economics-science-national digital transformation).

Dr. Han Huy Dung (Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications, Hanoi University of Science and Technology) commented: “A strong education is one that knows how to guide students into the world, instead of just preparing them for exams. Models like STEM in high schools need to be seen as a strategic step in preparing human resources, not just an extracurricular activity.”

Therefore, the role of teachers is key. Ms. Dao Thi Hong Quyen, Director of SEPA shared: “We do not bring a performance but an opportunity for teachers and students to accompany each other on a new learning journey – where questions are more important than answers, and the spirit of discovery is the greatest asset of learners”.

At the Robotics Station, students get acquainted with VEX IQ and ORC robots and control them to overcome obstacles.

For students, such experiential hours have helped them become more confident in asking questions, collaborating in groups, and understanding that knowledge is not contained in textbooks. Nguyen Huy Tien, class 9A1, expressed: “I like the part about controlling the robot to overcome obstacles the most, because I have to think logically and work with friends to solve problems. For the first time, I feel that technology is really interesting!”

Not only does the program spread the love of science, it also helps parents and teachers re-identify the concept of “quality education” in the new era – not just about scores, but also the ability to solve problems, be creative, connect and adapt to a changing world.

From a small school in Hanoi to thousands of educational institutions across the country, the spirit of Resolution 71 is gradually being translated into action: schools become centers of innovation, teachers are creative guides, students are active learners. That is also the way education steps out of the role of “training unit” to truly become the “engine of innovation” of the country.

In a future where “digital economy” and “knowledge society” are global games, grassroots movements like those at Chuong Duong Secondary School are a vivid demonstration of the ability to implement policies from the bottom up – where strategic thinking meets educational practice.
