New school year, scams targeting freshmen

This morning (September 22), the Vietnam Aviation Academy urgently warned about scams targeting new students. This unit said that in just 3 days, 2 new students of the school were lured and discovered in Tay Ninh.

The school's warning stated that in recent days, there have been a series of scams involving fake international study abroad, work, and internship programs aimed at defrauding and appropriating students' assets.

In just 3 days from September 17-20, 2 new students of Vietnam Aviation Academy were lured and discovered in Tay Ninh in a state of losing contact with their families. Fortunately, thanks to the urgent coordination of their families, authorities and the academy, these students were found and their safety was ensured.

Speaking further with Thanh Nien Newspaper reporters, a representative of the Vietnam Aviation Academy said that one of the two cases of new students being scammed was found at around 11:00 a.m. yesterday (September 21) after a day of being missing with timely coordination between the family, the academy and the authorities.

Faced with the above situation, Vietnam Aviation Academy urgently warns all students, parents and the community: Absolutely do not trust or participate in unverified "international programs"; Only receive official information through the website, official fanpage and the academy's academic advisors.

Vietnam Aviation Academy affirms that it always puts student safety as the top priority; Deploys an early warning system, online support channels, and strengthens close coordination with parents to protect students; Committed to continuing to accompany and equip students with skills to identify and prevent social risks.

"The Academy earnestly calls on press and media agencies to spread the message of vigilance to prevent sophisticated scams and contribute to protecting students nationwide," the announcement said.

A student was scammed out of 500 million VND because of fake information.

Previously, in February, Vietnam Aviation Academy also warned students about similar fraud.

At that time, this unit received a report from a student's family about being scammed and having a large sum of money stolen because they participated in the 2025 Australian student exchange scholarship program - but in fact, this was a fake document from the academy circulating on the internet.

According to the content of this fake document, this is a full scholarship program granted by the Australian government , including 15 university scholarships at the University of New South Wales for students majoring in aviation electronics and telecommunications engineering technology. In addition to the required background and health, applicants must prove that their financial statements must have a minimum balance of 250 million VND (ranking is based on the current financial capacity and achievements of each individual).

According to the story of NMQ student's family, the third-year student of Vietnam Aviation Academy followed the instructions, transferring 250 million VND to the consultant twice. Vietnam Aviation Academy warned all students and parents about the above fake information. This unit affirmed that it did not organize any similar student exchange programs.

Fraudulent activities using fake study abroad programs, international jobs and internships to steal students’ assets have been occurring continuously in recent times. Despite warnings from training institutions and the Ministry of Education and Training, students are still being scammed, especially in the context of the new school year.

In addition to posting information on the unit's information channels, Vietnam Aviation Academy also urgently sends warning information directly to each student.
