Before the debt collection trial, Ms. Thuy Trang released new evidence.
Regarding the noisy accusations and lawsuits between Miss Grand International 2021 Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien and Ms. Dang Thuy Trang, in the latest developments, the People's Court of Go Vap District (HCMC) has officially informed: At 2:00 p.m. on May 8, a trial will be held to try the dispute over a property loan contract and compensation for damages outside the contract between Ms. Dang Thuy Trang (plaintiff) and Ms. Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien (defendant).
Speaking to Giao Thong Newspaper, Ms. Dang Thuy Trang said: "I have full evidence, I have provided everything to the investigation agency, so it is difficult to deny (Miss Thuy Tien - PV). Before the trial, my mentality was very comfortable. Initially, I also wanted to resolve the matter based on feelings, but if things do not go as planned, I have prepared for the next tougher steps."
Although Ho Chi Minh City Police have rejected Thuy Tien's complaint against Ms. Thuy Trang, the beauty queen still claims that she was framed, forced to sign a fake debt paper and threatened to collect the debt.
According to Giao Thong Newspaper's investigation, one of the important evidences from Ms. Trang's side is the conclusion of the prosecution agencies (Ho Chi Minh City Police and Ho Chi Minh City People's Procuracy) related to this case.
Specifically, right after the information and image of Thuy Tien being asked to pay a debt of 1.5 billion VND caused a stir in public opinion in May 2019, this beauty queen accused Ms. Thuy Trang of "Extortion of property". According to the criminal complaint sent to Ho Chi Minh City Police (August 7, 2019), the beauty queen said that Ms. Trang "and her accomplices tricked others (Miss Thuy Tien - PV) into signing fake debt papers and then threatened to collect the debt".
However, at the end of 2019 (November 13), the Investigation Police Agency - Ho Chi Minh City Police issued Notice No. 9444-TB1PC02 on the results of handling information about crimes, affirming: The investigation process did not have enough basis to determine the crime, so the Investigation Police Agency decided not to prosecute the criminal case against the above-mentioned crime denunciation.
Previously, (November 7, 2019), the Ho Chi Minh City People's Procuracy also issued Conclusion No. 357/KLKT-VKS-P2 affirming that the decision not to prosecute the above criminal case by the Investigation Police Agency - Ho Chi Minh City Police was well-founded.
"The Investigation Police Agency has confirmed that there is not enough basis to determine the criminal act, meaning that I did not force Thuy Tien to sign a fake loan paper or threaten to collect the debt, but she (Miss Thuy Tien - PV) did not apologize to me after filing the complaint; nor did she make public the results of this investigation.
Even at the press conference on November 5, 2022, she was still crying and saying that I had set her up, deceived her, and threatened her with debt collection by using gangsters. This was an act of slander and defamation of my honor and dignity. This greatly affected my psychology as well as my work," said Ms. Trang.
"So, how did Miss Thuy Tien prepare to face this trial, especially with the new information and evidence that Ms. Thuy Trang has just released?", Giao Thong Newspaper asked.
In response to this question, the beauty queen's representative briefly informed: "We have provided all relevant documents and records to the police. We are ready to face the outcome of the lawsuit, whether we win or lose, we respect the court's decision."
Regarding the information that the prosecution agency had previously rejected Miss Thuy Tien's complaint, the representative added: "This incident has been going on for too long, we do not want to "dig up" it again after the decision of the authorities and respect this decision."
What did Ms. Thuy Trang say when she was counter-sued by the beauty queen?
Also related to this incident, last November, Miss Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien sued Ms. Dang Thuy Trang at the People's Court of Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City for violating her honor, dignity, and reputation.
Accordingly, Thuy Tien said that Ms. Trang intentionally used her personal image, attaching a photo of her standing next to Le Hoang Long - who was prosecuted by the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security for the crime of Prostitution Brokerage (posted on Facebook). That made the public misunderstand that she was involved in the incident.
Thuy Tien's side said that her legal representative had received a document from the People's Court of Go Vap District, informing her of the decision to merge the civil case of dispute over compensation for damages outside the contract (accepted number 419/2022/TLST-DS - in which she is the plaintiff, Ms. Thuy Trang is the defendant) with the case of dispute over a property loan contract (accepted number 402/2022/TLST-DS - in which Ms. Thuy Trang is the plaintiff, she is the defendant) to resolve it quickly and in accordance with the law.
Thus, the case of Miss Thuy Tien suing Ms. Thuy Trang is also scheduled to be tried at 2:00 p.m. on May 8.
Speaking more about this lawsuit, the beauty queen's representative affirmed: "Honestly, we don't want to sue anyone, we just want to seek justice for ourselves."
However, when speaking with Giao Thong Newspaper, Ms. Dang Thuy Trang said she did not receive any information about merging the two civil cases. Ms. Trang also said that Miss Thuy Tien’s lawsuit against her was unreasonable and her lawyer would have enough grounds to refute it.
Panorama of noisy accusations and lawsuits
On November 3, 2022, Go Vap District People's Court accepted (No. 402/2022/TLST-DS) the contract dispute case in which Ms. Dang Thuy Trang sued Miss Thuy Tien for compensation of nearly 2.4 billion VND (including 1.5 billion VND in debt and 932 million VND in compensation). At the same time, Ms. Thuy Trang asked Thuy Tien to publicly apologize to her in the press.
According to the lawsuit, Ms. Trang claimed that in June 2017, Miss Thuy Tien borrowed 1.5 billion VND from Ms. Trang to participate in the Miss Southern Vietnam 2017 contest for a period of one year. However, when the repayment period expired, Thuy Tien did not pay the above amount. The beauty queen even tore up the debt note.
Thuy Tien cried at the press conference on November 5, 2022, telling the story of how she was tricked by Ms. Trang and forced to sign a fake loan contract.
A day later, on November 4, 2022, Go Vap District People's Court accepted the case of dispute over compensation for non-contractual damages, ending the act of violating the honor, dignity and reputation of an individual between Miss Thuy Tien and Ms. Dang Thuy Trang (acceptance number 419/2022/TLST-DS).
According to the lawsuit, Thuy Tien claimed that Ms. Thuy Trang intentionally used her personal image, attaching a photo of her standing next to Le Hoang Long - who was prosecuted by the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security for the crime of Prostitution Brokerage (posted on Facebook). That caused the public to misunderstand that she was involved in the incident.
Immediately after that, on November 5, 2022, Miss Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien held a press conference. Here, the beauty queen admitted that she had signed a debt note of 1.5 billion VND (which she had torn up earlier), but did not receive any money from this woman.
According to Thuy Tien, Ms. Thuy Trang thought she had potential and needed investment money, so she approached her and promised to support her to win the prize. From there, it led to the signing of the debt paper.
"I did not receive any support, then I realized I was "set up"... The incident did not only happen to me but also to many other people, young girls who wanted to compete to change their lives...", Thuy Tien affirmed and said that speaking up and suing could put her career at risk. But she said she still decided to fight for herself and similar girls.
“Now I just hope everyone knows the cause, and young people take me as an experience to stay alert and not fall into the trap. Even though there is a risk of losing the case because the "paperwork is black and white" puts me at a disadvantage and I know I only have a 50-50 chance, I always have faith in the law, the court will find the root of the matter," Thuy Tien shared.
However, at this press conference, Miss Thuy Tien did not mention the information that she had sent a petition to the Ho Chi Minh City Police, accusing Ms. Thuy Trang of "extortion of property", "with her accomplices tricking others into signing fake debt papers and then threatening to collect debts", but the prosecution agency (Police, City People's Procuracy) concluded that there was not enough basis to determine the crime, so they did not initiate a criminal case against this accusation.
Giao thong newspaper will continue to inform about the incident.
