The foundation for reaching far from quality training
With the goal of training quality human resources for the region and the whole country, Tra Vinh University identifies quality as the prerequisite factor and the guiding principle for all activities. The school demonstrates a strong commitment to improving the quality of teaching to approach international standards. A clear demonstration of this orientation is that TVU has 27 training programs that have achieved international quality accreditation according to prestigious standards such as FIBAA (Europe), AUN-QA (Southeast Asia), and ABET (USA). This is an important milestone, not only affirming the reputation of the school but also bringing practical benefits to students.

To achieve this result, the school has persistently implemented a series of synchronous solutions for many years, continuously improving the program, improving the qualifications of the teaching staff and modernizing the facilities, training closely linked to the business community and expanding international cooperation with more than 90 international partners. At the same time, expanding Co-op training programs (cooperation with businesses) ensures that students after graduation have enough capacity to meet the increasingly strict requirements of the market.
Scientific research linked to practice
The highlight of TVU's development strategy is the orientation of highly applicable scientific research, solving practical problems. Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa, Rector of Tra Vinh University shared: "In addition to academic research, the school focuses most of its resources on applied research to solve practical problems, especially research serving community and local development."
The achievements of this orientation are shown through impressive numbers. In the period 2021-2024, the school published 1,533 domestic scientific articles and 570 international articles, of which 387 international articles were in the database. In addition, the school also published 20 book chapters in the WoS/Scopus database. Also in this period, the school had 10 more protected intellectual properties, including patents and useful solutions. Notably, in the field of health sciences, Tra Vinh University Hospital - a class 2 hospital with 80 beds and more than 170 doctors and physicians - is not only a place to take care of people's health but also a modern clinical practice facility, ideal for medical students.
In addition, research projects on tissue culture, wax coconut embryo culture, disease-free black tiger shrimp broodstock farming, environmental research, climate change adaptation, digital transformation, preservation of Southern culture and innovation, creativity, startups and highly applied research, effective implementation, bringing scientific knowledge into life.
With a solid foundation, the school's leaders affirm that they will continue to aim to develop the school into an advanced and internationally integrated university, and at the same time form a Mekong Regional Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, linked to the Business Incubator and the startup support network of schools in the region. In particular, the school continues to focus on research and development (R&D) activities, implementing applied research topics that directly serve businesses, especially in the fields of agricultural processing industry, supporting industry and digital technology; proactively expanding cooperation with businesses to build training programs according to "orders", ensuring that students can practice as soon as possible and work in their field immediately after graduation. In addition, focus on making foreign languages, digital skills and soft skills mandatory standards, becoming a center for training high-quality human resources, directly serving key economic sectors and spearhead industries to meet the socio-economic development needs of Vinh Long province and the Mekong Delta.
TVU is a local university among 23 higher education institutions nationwide to be piloted as the first autonomous university under Resolution No. 77/NQ-CP dated October 24, 2014. On April 13, 2017, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 486/QD-TTg approving the pilot project to innovate the operating mechanism of Tra Vinh University, and autonomous schools of group 1 from 2017.
