On the morning of January 12th, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training organized a workshop on the application of artificial intelligence in management, teaching, and student assessment. The workshop was held online with the main hub at the Department of Education and Training and 316 sub-hubs at the district and city education departments, Thu Duc City, and affiliated units.

Proactively seek solutions for digital transformation.

Opening the workshop, the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, Nguyen Van Hieu, stated that the education sector is currently in a phase of accelerating the application of information technology, including the application of artificial intelligence, in teaching management and student assessment.

"Currently, administrative management in many places is still reluctant, with continued use of paper documents, and slow or passive application of information technology to professional work. I want to emphasize that this is the responsibility of teachers," the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training stated.

Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, Nguyen Van Hieu, spoke at the workshop on the morning of January 12.

In the 2023-2024 academic year, the entire education sector will focus on two key tasks: resolutely implementing digital transformation and successfully implementing Resolution 98 of the National Assembly on the special mechanism for the city.

Therefore, the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training hope that educational institutions will increase their determination, passion, and proactively seek solutions to implement digital transformation, contributing to the city's overall goals.

Change the teaching methods of teachers.

Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hai from the University of Missouri (USA) stated that artificial intelligence is a part of STEM education, simultaneously involving the fields of Mathematics, Science , Technology, and Engineering.

"Artificial intelligence is one of the recently emerging tools contributing to the implementation of STEM education in schools. Due to its high applicability, this field has attracted considerable attention from both public and private institutions," Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hai informed.

Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hai discussed the application of artificial intelligence in teaching and student assessment.

Currently, many countries around the world have implemented artificial intelligence in schools. However, in Vietnam, there is no specific legal framework on this issue.

Nevertheless, the role and impact of artificial intelligence in promoting self-learning among learners, helping them become "digital citizens" of the future and adapt to societal development, cannot be denied.

"If learners master artificial intelligence technology, they will simultaneously become designers and users of AI tools to create learning content, thereby enhancing their digital capabilities and developing personal skills and qualities," Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hai stated.

For teachers, this tool supports them in designing lessons; building question banks for testing and evaluating students, thereby diversifying learning methods and improving teaching quality.

In particular, when using artificial intelligence in teaching, teachers will "talk more than write," increasing interaction between teachers and learners, and personalizing the teaching process to suit each student's needs.

Thus, artificial intelligence is not only a change in perception but also a change in behavior and teaching methods of teachers. Specifically, teachers will increase the time they spend interacting with students, instead of dedicating much time to preparing lessons and conducting tests and assessments.
