Exemplary village chief, good at economics

Although he has only been a village chief for 2 years, with his dedication and enthusiasm for his work, Mr. Le Hai Binh (born in 1963), Head of Hoan Cat village, Cam Nghia commune, Cam Lo district, Quang Tri province, has created trust and confidence from the people. Not only that, he is also a shining example of economic development in the locality with an annual income of over 200 million VND from his comprehensive economic model.

Formerly a retired officer of Tan Lam Agricultural Products Joint Stock Company, in July 2022, Mr. Binh was elected as the head of Hoan Cat village. Sharing about the early days of taking on the job, he admitted that he encountered many difficulties.

“For me, a good village chief must always be exemplary, responsible, close, and intimate with the people to understand what they want. Anything that is just starting to do is difficult, but fortunately, I always have the attention and support of the village Party Committee and previous generations; and the active support of the people. Therefore, I strive to improve myself to do my job better every day,” Mr. Binh shared.

As the village chief, he always worries and thinks about helping the villagers have a prosperous life. Based on the practical situation and closely following the resolutions of the higher-level Party Committee, Mr. Binh, together with the Party Committee, the Front Committee and organizations and unions of Hoan Cat village, promote propaganda and mobilize people to actively change the structure of crops and livestock, and apply science and technology to production to increase productivity and quality.

He went to each house, grasped the thoughts and aspirations of the people to find a reasonable and sympathetic solution to the problems arising in the residential area. At the same time, he mobilized households to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, the residential area's conventions and covenants, participate in protecting the rural environment, and actively respond to movements launched by the locality.

From 2022 to 2023, Hoan Cat village was recognized by Cam Lo District People's Committee as a model new rural village of level 1 and level 2. This result was achieved thanks to the efforts of the Party cell and the village executive board to mobilize people to contribute labor and money, in which Mr. Binh played a significant role. With the propaganda motto "slow and steady wins the race", the people of Hoan Cat village have clearly recognized that they are the main subjects in building new rural areas and voluntarily contributed labor days and cash to build roads.

According to the village report, up to now, 100% of the alleys and roads of Hoan Cat village have been concreted and asphalted. Each road has a unit in charge, so environmental sanitation, aesthetics, and green - clean - beautiful landscapes are always ensured. The lighting system reaches 100%, ensuring safe operation and use for activities at night. 100% of households are cultural families; the rate of universaleducation reaches 100%...

In economic development, Mr. Binh is also a shining example for people in the region to learn from. Thanks to knowing how to exploit advantages and overcome difficulties when starting to implement the model, his diligence, hard work and determination have helped him have a highly effective economic model.

Taking us to visit his fruit-laden avocado garden, Mr. Binh said: “Even though we have a pension, my wife and I still want to develop the family economy with a comprehensive model. Labor also brings joy to my wife and I in our old age.”

On the 1 hectare land area that Tan Lam Agricultural Products Joint Stock Company converted to his family in 2017, Mr. Binh invested in land improvement, selected and purchased 300 avocado seedlings from Dak Lak along with many green-skinned grapefruit, custard apple, and medicinal plants to plant according to the correct techniques and procedures.

Up to now, all the trees have grown well, of which avocado has yielded the third harvest and is quite popular in the market. In addition, he also planted 3 hectares of cajuput, acacia, 2 hectares of rubber, 200 cinnamon trees, 2 fish ponds to raise many different types of fish, and raised cows and chickens.

With his dedication and enthusiasm for work, Mr. Binh is highly appreciated by the local Party Committee and government. More importantly, he receives support and consensus from all walks of life in Hoan Cat village. This is a great source of encouragement and motivation for him to be determined to do more good things, helping the people and Hoan Cat village to develop more and more.
