Strengthening trade connections to expand markets

With the aim of promoting production linkages, expanding cooperation opportunities with partners and customers and developing product consumption markets, in recent times, Quang Tri province has actively implemented trade promotion activities, connecting trade with provinces and cities nationwide and internationally. This effort has contributed to helping enterprises and cooperatives in the province exchange and learn experiences in developing production and business, while promoting and introducing typical local products.

Quang Tri Product Festival in Ho Chi Minh City in 2025 is one of the key activities in the Quang Tri Province Trade Promotion Program in 2025, which took place at the end of May. Accordingly, the program supported connecting and promoting typical products, 3- and 4-star OCOP products of Quang Tri to consumers in Ho Chi Minh City through Saigon Co.op 's distribution system with more than 800 points of sale nationwide.

At the event, 20 enterprises, cooperatives, and business establishments of Quang Tri province participated in displaying, promoting, and introducing 100-150 items, which are OCOP products, typical rural industrial products, and typical products of Quang Tri province such as organic rice, pepper, coffee, medicinal herbs, processed seafood products, etc. Notably, within the framework of the festival, Saigon Co.op signed a cooperation agreement on product consumption with 7 enterprises and cooperatives of the province.

Through direct working sessions between suppliers and the distribution system, many distributors expressed their desire to bring Quang Tri products to the southern market for long-term consumption, and at the same time signed memorandums of understanding and product consumption contracts. On this occasion, the Quang Tri Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center (IPA Quang Tri) also signed a memorandum of understanding with Arobid Technology Joint Stock Company, establishing a cooperative relationship for the purpose of accompanying and supporting the business community of Quang Tri province in developing digital transformation, digital economy, green economy, blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI), aiming to build a green business community, pioneering in innovation, contributing to the implementation of e-Government goals and sustainable development.

As one of many enterprises that regularly participate in fairs and trade promotion programs organized by units and localities, Ms. Tran Thi Lan, Director of Tran Lan Clean Agricultural Products Production and Trading Company Limited happily shared: “Every year, our enterprise is always facilitated by the Department of Industry and Trade, IPA Quang Tri, and local authorities to participate in product consumption connection groups, fairs inside and outside the province. Recently, at the Quang Tri Product Festival in Ho Chi Minh City in 2025, we introduced, promoted and signed a contract to supply clean agricultural products of our homeland such as: herbal brown rice tea, freeze-dried perilla powder, brown rice cake, lotus powder, ginger powder and nutritious cereal powder, dried vegetable noodles... to the Saigon Co.op system.

This is not only an important step in the journey of market expansion but also a golden opportunity to connect Quang Tri agricultural products closer to urban consumers, where the value of "clean eating, healthy living" is increasingly emphasized and products of natural origin, safety and quality are appreciated.

In recent times, in order to improve competitiveness, help businesses in the province find outlets for their products and services and expand their product consumption markets, the Provincial People's Committee has directed IPA Quang Tri, the Department of Industry and Trade and other units and localities to promote trade promotion activities, connecting trade with provinces and cities across the country, especially key markets with great potential in regions. Typically, in 2024, Quang Tri province successfully organized the Trade and Tourism Fair - Trans-Asia Bridge - Quang Tri with over 392 booths of 214 domestic and foreign units and enterprises registered to participate.

According to the organizers, the fair attracted more than 35,000 visitors and shoppers. The total transaction value is estimated at over 20 billion VND. In particular, more than 70 memorandums of understanding and economic contracts on cooperation, distributorship and agency were signed between enterprises. Also in 2024, a series of important trade promotion events and programs of the province were organized, bringing many remarkable results, opening up development opportunities for enterprises, production and business establishments in the province.

Deputy Director of IPA Quang Tri Tran Phi Tuong affirmed: “In the current context, expanding the consumer market has become a matter of survival for every enterprise, production and business establishment. Therefore, in addition to solutions such as: improving the operational capacity of enterprises, improving the business environment and conditions, developing institutions and supporting enterprises..., trade promotion activities through fairs and product festivals play an important role in the development of each enterprise.

In the coming time, IPA Quang Tri will continue to implement trade promotion activities according to the Trade Promotion Program of Quang Tri province for the period 2021 - 2025 approved by the Provincial People's Committee; support enterprises to improve their capacity in trade promotion activities; innovate and diversify trade promotion methods, connect supply and demand through promoting the application of information technology and digital transformation in this activity.

To contribute to strengthening trade connections and expanding markets, enterprises, production establishments and cooperatives in the area need to focus on improving product quality, improving product quality, design and packaging, ensuring environmental protection criteria, focusing on building strong product brands and trademarks with competitive advantages of the province to exploit traditional markets and expand new markets.
