Cooperation in promoting and advertising tourism by air

QTO - On the morning of November 7, the Provincial People's Committee held a working session with the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to discuss issues related to cooperation in tourism promotion, chaired by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Xuan Tan. Attending the meeting were Mr. Tran Anh Vu, Deputy General Director of ACV and members of the working delegation; representatives of relevant departments, branches and sectors.

Accordingly, Quang Tri is considered one of the localities with the leading potential and competitive advantages in tourism in Vietnam. Therefore, the province has determined to focus on investing in developing tourism to truly become a spearhead economic sector, a breakthrough to promote growth and economic restructuring, associated with community benefits and sustainable development.

Currently, Dong Hoi Airport is serving 2 domestic routes: Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City with a frequency of 4-12 flights/day and 1 international route (charter form) - Taipei.

In the period 2023-2025, the number of passengers decreased sharply compared to 2022 and by 2024 it reached only more than 513,000, down nearly 30% compared to 2022. The reason is that some airlines temporarily stopped operating flights at Dong Hoi Airport, such as: Bamboo Airways, Pacific Airlines, Vasco... causing airfares to increase and the operation of the North-South expressway in the East, high-quality trains on the Hanoi-Dong Hoi route.

After grasping information on the situation of tourism activities in Quang Tri and cooperation, promoting the growth of tourists by air, difficulties and obstacles, delegates made recommendations and proposals to improve the effectiveness of coordination between the People's Committee of Quang Tri province and ACV, promoting the expansion of the flight network and promoting the growth of visitors to Dong Hoi Airport.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Xuan Tan agreed with some opinions from ACV, especially the program to promote tourism products. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that in the coming time, ACV needs to coordinate with the People's Committee of Quang Tri province in researching, developing, and communicating about preferential policies, support, and stimulus to open new routes (including domestic and international) to Dong Hoi Airport for domestic and international airlines with a variety of types. At the same time, assign Dong Hoi Airport as the focal unit to coordinate with departments, branches, and units of Quang Tri province in implementing cooperation activities...
