Educational Highlights

Dak Ha commune (Tu Mo Rong district, Kon Tum) has a terrain of mostly steep hills, making it difficult for students, especially those from remote villages, to get to school. The people's economic situation is still low, and some parents' awareness of the role of education is limited, causing students to still skip school and drop out.

Although the school's facilities have been invested, they still do not meet the teaching needs according to the 2018 General Education Program. Some remote schools are located far from the center, causing difficulties in management and teaching. However, overcoming all, the school's staff and teachers always make efforts, stay with the class, stay with the students, stay with the village to spread knowledge.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Dak Ha Primary School has 27 classes with 704 students, of which 642 are ethnic minorities. The rate of mobilizing children to enter grade 1 is 100% and the school's attendance rate is always above 96%. These results are thanks to the perseverance, responsibility and dedication of the teaching staff, who are not afraid of hardship and always consider the students' learning as their top concern.

Right from the beginning of the school year, the school has proactively repaired the facilities, added desks and chairs, teaching equipment, textbooks, reference books and even children's comics to attract students to school. Not only investing in facilities, the school also focuses on innovating teaching methods towards developing capacity, focusing on students. Classes are organized 2 sessions/day, promoting the application of information technology, organizing many practical activities related to the locality.

A highlight is that all teachers in the classroom can use the Xo Dang language in communication and teaching. Thanks to this, students feel closer and more confident in the learning environment, especially when approaching Vietnamese, which is their second language.

Not only teaching letters, the school also actively integrates traditional culture into educational activities. Folk games, learning musical instruments, singing folk songs, wearing traditional costumes in experiential events... help students love their homeland's culture more. Classrooms are vividly decorated, with "nature corners", "local corners", shared bookshelves, competition boards... creating an attractive and unique learning environment.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Dak Ha Primary School had 10 teachers competing at the district level, all of whom won prizes, including 1 first prize and the overall first prize. At the provincial level, all 5 participating teachers also won prizes. This achievement is not only a testament to the efforts to innovate professionally, but also reflects the sense of responsibility and continuous learning of the teaching staff.

Principal Ho Thi Thuy Van shared: “We always ask the question: what can students learn and apply after each lesson? Therefore, each teacher is encouraged to be flexible in their teaching methods, shifting from one-way communication to guidance, organizing students to acquire knowledge on their own. Along with that, group learning is enhanced, creating opportunities to develop social skills, self-study ability and creative thinking.”

Dak Ha Primary School was recognized as meeting national standards level 1 in the 2022-2023 school year. The upcoming goal is to meet level 2 standards in the 2027-2028 school year. To realize that goal, the school recommends that local authorities and the education sector continue to pay attention to arranging enough teachers and investing in facilities. At the same time, they should strengthen propaganda to raise parents' awareness of the importance of education.

Not only enriching students’ knowledge and teaching experience, in recent years, the school has called on individuals and businesses to support the implementation of “Happy Meals” and the “Boarding School for Locals” model at two schools in Ty Tu and Kon Pia villages. Along with that, school managers, teachers and staff have increased livestock production to raise more pigs to improve meals for students…

“Only with the cooperation of family, school and society can the path to school for students in mountainous areas be truly open and sustainable,” Ms. Van expressed.

With its contributions to the education sector, the school has always been at the forefront of the sector and has been rated as an advanced and excellent labor collective for many consecutive years. Last school year, the school collective and Ms. Ho Thi Thuy Van were honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in work and labor, contributing to the socio-economic development, national defense and security of the locality on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Tu Mo Rong district.
