From a Dao girl who got married at the age of 18 to a female YouTuber who explored every part of the country

Like many other children in the highlands, Mui Coi had a difficult and deprived childhood. Her memories are of the "skin-burning" days when she had to go to the fields to help her parents and older sister.

Because of the difficult family circumstances, the two sisters often encourage each other to help their parents with housework, in addition to going to school.

Aspiring to rise from a poor childhood

The school was located several kilometers away from Mui Coi’s house. To get there, she had to cross rough dirt roads, many winding mountain slopes, and sometimes slippery when it rained. Every morning, the Dao girl woke up very early, before the sun had even risen, prepared a simple breakfast and brought some rice balls for lunch.

The road to school was not only long but also dangerous. She had to wade through small streams or climb over sharp rocks. Especially in winter, thick fog obscured her vision and the bitter cold made traveling even more difficult. However, Mui Coi always kept her spirit and determination.

Every step she took on the way to school was filled with hope and determination. Coi knew that studying was the only way to open up a brighter future for herself and her family.

However, Dao still has a fear that one day she will no longer be able to go to school. "I feel very lucky to have food to eat, clothes to wear and my parents to send me to school," Coi shared with Dan Tri reporter.

Perhaps because of this, Coi developed a sense of work ethic from a young age. That self-improvement contributed greatly to her success on her YouTube journey later on.

"Fate" with film and photography footage

Sharing about her fate with the filming job, Mui Coi honestly told about her own coincidence and randomness. The ethnic cultural programs shown every evening revolving around the life, customs, and living habits of the ethnic people left a deep impression in her memory.

"Through the screen of the convex TV, the footage of the lives of the highlanders when they prepare daily meals, when they go to the fields to catch fish or when they go to the forest to gather food made me feel like I was following them. The scenes were so realistic and beautiful that at that time, I also hoped that when I grew up, I could do the same," Coi confided.

The first video is a film of student memories about teachers and friends when Coi started her summer vacation in grade 11.

Perhaps because of this improvisation, the initial content on the 24-year-old girl's channel was simple, rustic and almost without the intervention of effects or techniques. Coi admitted that she did not have any knowledge or in-depth shooting skills. It all came from interest and passion.

Mui Coi is always in a "state" of being alone with the camera anytime, anywhere.

Nurturing her passion for photography with an old phone, Mui Coi always believes that her dream will definitely come true one day. Therefore, she is always ready to learn and is not afraid to hide her ignorance. "What I don't know, I will find out for myself, if I can't anymore, I will find every way to ask people to show me", Coi honestly said.

After graduating, Coi got married and had children. The girl, then only 18 years old, had to temporarily put her dream on hold to focus on taking care of her family.

"Determined to do, always believe that you can do it"

Mui Coi did not know that her decision to get married that day would become the biggest obstacle on her journey to pursue her ambition.

"The feeling of being trusted by everyone around you but your husband, the person you love, does not support you and even tries to find ways to forbid you is really sad," Coi confided.

The 24-year-old girl admitted that there were times when she cried and tried to pursue the job she had decided to commit to. With the responsibility of her family on her shoulders, she had to temporarily leave her less than one-year-old child with relatives to go to filming.

At first, Coi could only film content about food and daily life in the place where she lived. Later, when her children grew up, she dared to challenge herself with long trips to new lands.

Mui Coi confided: "There was a time when I had to lie to my husband's family that I would sell the channel and stop working. However, I still worked silently. Only when many people knew and shared about it did I begin to receive recognition from my family."

In addition to the hardships, the Dao girl also exudes a burning passion for photography. Thanks to that perseverance and determination, her journey to pursue her passion has been rewarded with worthy results.

Earlier this year, Mui Coi received the YouTube Silver Button (recognizing that the channel has attracted 100,000 subscribers). It is not a gift of luck but the sweet fruit of many days of effort, trying to conquer passion.
