From an early morning meeting to a new chapter for science in Binh Dinh

DNVN – At 6:30 a.m., the Chairman of Binh Dinh province came to work with the ICISE center - a special scientific institution, not only demonstrating a spirit of openness and determination in leadership, but also sending a clear message: Binh Dinh values ​​and prioritizes the development of science and technology as a strategic pillar in the process of socio-economic development.

Action instead of commitment

Early in the morning of June 6 in Quy Nhon, Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan was present at the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science andEducation (ICISE) to chair an important working session with leaders of the Rencontres du Vietnam and ICISE.

The meeting took place at 6:30 a.m., arranged by the Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee right before the opening of the scientific workshop to contribute ideas to the project "Building a Center for Research and Application of Space Technology in Binh Dinh Province".

The early appearance of the head of the provincial government at a special scientific institution not only demonstrates a receptive and decisive spirit in leadership, but also sends a clear message: Binh Dinh values ​​and prioritizes the development of science and technology as a strategic pillar in the process of socio -economic development.

At the meeting, the Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee and the leaders of ICISE Center reviewed the progress of implementing the recommendations sent to the Provincial People's Committee, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government and Central Government.

In the spirit of responsibility and openness, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan acknowledged the efforts and contributions of the Center. At the same time, he committed to accompany and provide maximum support in terms of mechanisms, policies and local budgets so that the Center can develop strongly, effectively, and in line with the national strategic orientation.

The Chairman of Binh Dinh Province also outlined four key development goals for ICISE in the coming period. That is to build ICISE into a special academic destination in Southeast Asia, a place where knowledge converges and connects the world's leading scientists.

Develop and enhance the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research and Education (IFIRSE) under the ICISE Center to develop basic scientific research focusing on areas that Vietnam lacks and is weak in.

Build the ICISE Center into a place for applied scientific research, technology reception and transfer; a center for promoting scientific diplomacy and attracting prestigious and capable scientists to Vietnam to research and work.

Turning policy into action

In the context that the whole country is promoting the implementation of Resolution 57-NQ/TW on the development of science, technology and innovation, the action of the Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee to work at ICISE at 6:30 am is highly symbolic. It is proactive, decisive, close and substantial leadership, in line with the spirit of "turning policies into actions" right from the local level.

The brief but effective working session at ICISE on the morning of June 6 opened up new expectations for the development of science and technology in Binh Dinh province - which is not only a tourism and industrial center of the Central region, but is also gradually becoming a pioneer in the fields of intelligence, academia and innovation.

When leaders act early, correctly and decisively, the scientific future of the locality will certainly be placed on a solid foundation, not only from the policies of the Party and Government, but also from the trust, support and expectations of the intellectual community at home and abroad.

Sharing with Vietnam Business Magazine after the working session, Professor Tran Thanh Van - Chairman of the Vietnam Science Association, Director of ICISE Center, said that he decided to choose Binh Dinh to build ICISE Center and felt that this choice was very correct.

“The provincial leaders, past and present, have been very interested in and strongly supported the Center’s activities. We are trying our best to develop ICISE into a center for academic exchange and promoting basic scientific research typical of Vietnam,” emphasized Professor Tran Thanh Van.

Over the past decade, the ICISE Center has become a symbol of international scientific cooperation in Vietnam. The Center has organized more than 200 scientific events, attracting over 16,000 scientists from 40 countries and territories. Among them are many famous names who have won Nobel Prizes, Fields Medals, Dirac – symbols of the pinnacle of human intelligence.

Not only is it a place to hold international scientific conferences, ICISE is also a pioneer in training the young generation, building a scientific urban model that has been officially approved by the Prime Minister in the Planning of the North Central and Central Coast regions to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

In particular, the center has become an important bridge in the Vietnam-France cooperation relationship in science, higher education and space technology. Many large-scale projects are being promoted, such as: Marine environmental monitoring station, SVOM satellite signal receiving station, Thi Nai lagoon research, cooperation with CNES and IRD of France...
