The method of calculating admission scores for grade 10 from 2025 is as follows: Admission scores are the total scores of the subjects and exams calculated on a 10-point scale for each subject and exam.
The method of calculating admission scores for grade 10 high school from the 2025-2026 school year has changed compared to current regulations. This is a regulation in Circular No. 30/2024/TT-BGDDT on the regulations for admission to junior high school and high school, recently issued by the Ministry of Education and Training.
According to Circular No. 30 on junior high school and high school admissions recently announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, there are three methods of admission to grade 10: entrance exam, admission review, or a combination of entrance exam and admission review. The selection of admission methods is under the authority of the locality.
For the entrance exam method to grade 10, the nationwide regulations are unified to implement 3 subjects and exams, including: Math, Literature and a third subject or exam selected by the Departmentof Education and Training. The third subject or exam will be announced after the end of the first semester but no later than March 31 every year.
Regarding the exam duration of each subject, literature is 120 minutes, math is 90 minutes or 120 minutes, the third subject is 60 minutes or 90 minutes, and the combined exam is 90 minutes or 120 minutes.
The exam content is within the secondary school general education program, mainly grade 9 program.
The Ministry of Education and Training clearly stipulates the method of calculating admission scores for grade 10: Admission scores are the total scores of the subjects and exams calculated on a 10-point scale for each subject and exam.
Thus, with the new regulations, the Ministry of Education and Training stipulates a unified method of calculating admission scores and exam coefficients. According to the current exam regulations, the method of calculating admission scores and exam coefficients is approved by the provincial People's Committee.
In recent years, many localities, including Hanoi, often apply a coefficient of 2 for Math and Literature.
Sharing about the new scoring method, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien - an English teacher in Hanoi, said: "I agree with this new scoring method, all exams are multiplied by a coefficient of 1, which is fair for students, avoiding students from studying lopsidedly or learning by rote, in line with the spirit of the new general education program.
The subjects are all equivalent, so there is no longer the worry that students will only study Literature and Math and forget about other subjects.
In addition, this teacher also said that the Ministry of Education and Training did not choose English as a compulsory subject in the 10th grade entrance exam, which also helps reduce the pressure of studying this subject. Learning English will not create a mentality of studying only for exams, but will lead to more practical teaching.
Investing hundreds of millions for their children to prepare for the 6th grade exam, parents are disappointed when the Ministry of Education and Training bans the exam.
Ministry of Education and Training: Eliminate entrance exams for grade 6, including high-quality schools
Ho Chi Minh City will choose English as the third subject for 10th grade entrance exam.
