(GLO)- November is back, bringing with it warm feelings towards Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20).

This is not only a day for the silent “ferrymen”, but also an opportunity for society to affirm the value of knowledge and the special role of the teaching profession, the foundation for the sustainable development of the country.

The stream of moral teachings and the unchanging value of teachers

For thousands of years, our people have placed education in an important position. In the Vietnamese mind, teachers are not only those who impart knowledge and teach skills, but also symbols of morality and personality. The morality of “respecting teachers and valuing education” has therefore become a core value, a lasting stream in the Vietnamese cultural identity.

During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh always paid special attention to education and affirmed: "An ignorant nation is a weak nation". From the early days of the nation's founding, he launched a mass education movement, considering the eradication of illiteracy a strategic task. The idea of "planting trees for the benefit of ten years, cultivating people for the benefit of a hundred years" has become a philosophy, a guiding principle for all educational activities and the development of Vietnamese people.

Imbued with that ideology, our Party has always identified education and training as the top national policy, the key driving force for the country's long-term development. From the Central Resolution 4 (Session VII), Resolution 29-NQ/TW on fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training to the XIII Congress Documents or recently Resolution 71-NQ/TW dated August 22, 2025 of the Politburo on breakthrough in education development... continue to clarify the Party's strategic vision for the cause of "growing people".

Through the years of war and peace, our country's education has gone through many difficult but glorious stages. Many generations of teachers have taught in harsh conditions, silently sacrificing to keep the flame of knowledge alive. After the country's reunification, tens of thousands of teachers went to remote areas, islands, bringing the light of culture to poor students and ethnic minorities. They are "silent soldiers", tirelessly fighting for the future of the country.

Nowadays, as the country innovates and develops strongly, Vietnamese education is also changing. The scale of schools and classes is expanding, the quality of training is constantly improving, serving more than 17 million students. Many universities in our country are listed in regional and world rankings; Vietnamese students often win high prizes at international Olympic competitions. Teachers not only impart knowledge but also inspire, shape thinking, creativity and personality for the young generation.

Along with digital transformation and technological revolution, teaching and learning methods become more flexible, expanding the space for accessing knowledge. However, no matter how advanced technology is, it cannot replace the personality, dedication and love for the profession of the teacher, the things that make up the true strength of education.

Motivation for development and mission of gratitude to teachers

For education to truly become the top national policy as our Party has determined, the teaching staff needs to be properly cared for.

In recent years, many new policies have been implemented: the 2019 Education Law, salary reform, teacher professional standards, priority policies for disadvantaged areas, etc., contributing to improving the quality of the team and creating motivation for professionals.

However, beyond material factors, what teachers desire most is understanding, respect and protection of professional honor. A strong education can only be formed when teachers are placed in the right position at the center of reform and the center of human values.

Vietnamese Teachers' Day November 20 is therefore not only an occasion for gratitude, but also a reminder of each person's responsibility to preserve the core values of the nation. Respecting teachers is respecting knowledge; respecting knowledge is respecting the future of the nation.

In the context of the country's rapid development and deep integration, education continues to play a pivotal role. Educational innovation is the common responsibility of the State, schools, families and the whole society. Caring for the cause of educating people is caring for the future of the nation. Each school must become a place to nurture dreams and arouse aspirations; each teacher must work in a healthy environment, be protected and be duly honored.

Knowledge is power, education is the future and teachers are the guiding light. From the classrooms in the border areas to the university lecture halls, the flame of knowledge is passed down every day, contributing to glorifying the two words Vietnam.
