Teacher and students together hold a painting exhibition to support children in Ha Giang
On the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, teachers and students of Ta Tu Kindergarten, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, recently organized a painting exhibition "I love my teacher", raising funds to support the project "Laughter on Sung Ria", bringing good things to extremely disadvantaged students in remote areas.
Sung Ria is a remote mountainous village in Dong Van district, Ha Giang province. With its complex rocky terrain and difficult geographical location, the school is divided into many small points near the villages. However, children still have to walk very far to go to school. Some children walk barefoot on the cold rocky ground, and have to bring men men (corn flour) to cook rice to eat with water. Sung Ria school is located next to a solid cliff, but time has caused this place to deteriorate, with many damaged ceilings, tables and chairs, no electricity, and an unsafe water system. In addition, the school lacks learning facilities such as bookcases and school supplies.
Sung Ria School, Ha Giang with many difficulties
Ms. Ha Ngoc Nga, professional manager of Ta Tu Kindergarten, said that she was deeply aware of the difficulties of many children in Sung Ria, so before Vietnamese Teachers' Day, teachers and students thought about what they could do to multiply the good things andeducate the children in many meaningful things. Everyone discussed together the idea of drawing pictures, holding a painting exhibition right on the school campus, inviting parents to visit and buy paintings, and auctioning paintings to support disadvantaged students in Sung Ria.
The painting exhibition to celebrate Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, was a success. The paintings created by preschool children and teachers were very lively, with a variety of materials, expressing many interesting ideas. "Many parents and guests came to visit and buy paintings, auctioning the paintings to raise more funds to support the project "Laughter on Sung Ria". In total, the painting exhibition raised nearly 12 million VND. The entire amount was donated to the project for children in the highlands. Not only the teachers but also the parents and children were very happy because on Vietnamese Teachers' Day, everyone got to do meaningful work together", Ms. Ha Ngoc Nga shared.
The project "Laughter on the Edge" is being implemented by Happy Feet, a fund established in 2018, built and operated by young people working in the fields of social work and education.
The project implementers wish to contribute and bring sustainable volunteering values to the community, especially focusing on educational development activities for ethnic minority children across the country.
