Exciting first Hung Yen Province Food Festival 2024

Nearly 100 famous dishes participate in Hung Yen Province's Culinary Festival. The first Hung Yen Province Culinary Festival in 2024 takes place from April 17 to 19, with 60 booths bringing together nearly 100 famous culinary dishes of the province and provinces and cities in the Red River Delta cluster, and provinces associated with Hung Yen.

At Hung Yen Provincial Museum (Pham Bach Ho Street, Hien Nam Ward, Hung Yen City), on the morning of April 17, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hung Yen province solemnly held the opening ceremony of the first Hung Yen Provincial Culinary Festival in 2024.

Convergence of nearly 100 famous culinary dishes

Mr. Do Huu Nhan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hung Yen province, said that Hung Yen is a province with many potentials and advantages for tourism development, located in the central region of the Northern Delta, surrounded by a dense network of rivers. Thanks to its favorable location, tropical monsoon climate, and the fertile alluvium of the Red River and Luoc River, Hung Yen has many diverse sources of products according to the rhythm of the seasons.

Besides, Hung Yen is a province with a long-standing cultural tradition, still preserving many heritages, customs, practices, beliefs, traditional festivals and a rich system of historical and cultural relics - factors that contribute to creating a unique cultural identity. Hung Yen people carry within them the pride of a cultural land, rich in tradition "First Kinh Ky, Second Pho Hien".

Throughout history, along with the absorption of Vietnamese culture, the richness of the population has brought Hung Yen many unique cultural features, especially the culinary culture associated with the customs and practices of people from many regions, creating a diverse and colorful culinary culture.

According to the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hung Yen province, to promote, honor and develop the quintessence of Hung Yen culinary culture in particular and Vietnamese cuisine in general, the People's Committee of Hung Yen province assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to preside over and coordinate with departments, branches, localities and provinces and cities to organize the 1st Hung Yen Culinary Festival in 2024 for 3 days from April 17 to 19.

The Hung Yen Culinary Festival, held for the first time, is a typical tourism promotion activity of the province in 2024, aiming to honor, preserve and promote the cultural, culinary and tourism values ​​of the province, and effectively build and exploit the cultural, culinary and tourism brand. With a scale of 60 booths, the event brings together nearly 100 famous culinary dishes of Hung Yen past and present as well as typical cuisines of provinces and cities in the Red River Delta cluster and associated provinces such as Nghe An, Son La, Ha Tinh, etc.

“This is an expanded event, aiming to honor the diversity and uniqueness of domestic cuisine in general, and Hung Yen cuisine in particular, promoting the image of a dynamic and youthful Hung Yen on the basis of traditional quintessence, being a bridge to converge and crystallize Vietnamese cultural identity, aiming at the goal of building and positioning the Hung Yen tourism brand in the new period; is an activity to stimulate tourism, contributing to the recovery and development of the tourism industry in particular and the socio-economy of the province in general,” emphasized the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hung Yen province.

Besides, this is also a strong promotion opportunity between Hung Yen and other provinces, cities, and tourism business associations across the country to join hands in building new tourism products to expand domestic and international tourism markets, aiming to promote cultural exchange and develop sustainable tourism, contributing to constantly enhancing the reputation, brand and attraction of Vietnam tourism in general and Hung Yen tourism in particular.

Immediately after the opening of the Festival, a contest to wrap and cook banh chung took place at the yard of Hung Yen Provincial Museum.

In addition, through the event, culinary culture lovers will have the opportunity to share the knowledge and secrets of artisans who have 'breathed life' into ingredients and food to create unique culinary works of art imbued with national identity.

Immediately after the opening ceremony of the Festival, a contest of wrapping and cooking banh chung and pounding banh day took place at the yard of Hung Yen Provincial Museum. At 4 p.m. on the same day, an incense offering ceremony and offering of banh chung and banh day took place at Lac Long Quan Temple and Mau Au Co Temple (Hung Yen City).

The organizers said that during the 3 days of the Festival, from 9am to 10pm, the space for displaying and introducing culinary culture and tourism will take place at the Hung Yen Provincial Museum, including 60 booths promoting and introducing cuisine, tourism, typical and famous OCOP products of Hung Yen and other regions...
