Responding to reporters' questions about the third round of trade negotiations between Vietnam and the United States, Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang said: "Regarding the third round of negotiations between Vietnam and the United States that just took place, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has official information. The third round of negotiations on the bilateral reciprocal trade agreement between Vietnam and the United States was held in Washington DC from June 9 to 12. During the 4 days of negotiations, the two sides made much progress and narrowed the gap in all areas of negotiation."
During the working sessions, the US side highly appreciated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed that the US attaches importance to its relationship with Vietnam, and acknowledged Vietnam’s opinions, suggestions and concerns. This is considered an important basis for the two sides to continue discussing and promoting reaching an agreement between the two countries.
For its part, the Vietnamese negotiating delegation affirmed Vietnam's determination to build and promote economic and trade relations with the United States in a balanced and sustainable manner, for the benefit of the people and businesses of the two countries.
“The two negotiating delegations also agreed to continue discussions at each side’s technical level, aiming to soon reach an agreement that meets the expectations and conditions of each country,” said Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang.
