The above information was given by Ms. Maria Zakharova on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok on September 12.
The EU continues to rely heavily on Russian gas even as it pledges to stop buying and using fuel from its eastern neighbor by 2027, she said.
Spokesperson Maria Zakharova stressed: "All statements by the 27-nation alliance about cutting Russian gas are just 'wordplay'.
They can play with words all they like... But there is no escaping the truth and reality. Continuing without energy will affect their own development agenda for the next 10 years."
Stating that “every country wants to have alternative energy sources to ensure its independence and sovereignty ”, she stressed the fact that “they cannot completely abandon Russian energy at this stage and they realize that”.
According to results released by the non-governmental organization Global Witness in late August, EU members imported 52% of Russia's total liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports in the first 7 months of the year.
