Passing the group stage (group D) with the 2nd place, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team will face Qatar in the quarterfinals of the AVC Nations Cup 2025. This is the biggest challenge for coach Tran Dinh Tien's team, because Qatar is the defending champion of the tournament.

Before this match, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team lost 0-3 to South Korea and won 3-0 against New Zealand in the group stage. Although they showed great effort and confidence, the Vietnamese boys also revealed many limitations, most notably their defensive ability when facing a strong opponent with a fierce attacking style of play.

In the quarterfinals, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team (ranked 55th in the world ) was rated much lower than Qatar (ranked 23rd in the world). Therefore, only when they "cross the threshold" can Ngoc Thuan and his teammates cause trouble for Qatar.

As the underdog team, hopefully the Vietnamese men's volleyball team will have a good mentality, good preparation in tactics and physical strength, ready for the very difficult quarter-final match.

According to experts, if they play to their full potential, coach Tran Dinh Tien's team winning a set against defending champion Qatar would be a success.

The quarter-final match between Vietnam men's volleyball team and Qatar will take place at 8:20 p.m. on June 21.
