"We are here to prepare for an important match, which could be the toughest challenge on the journey to qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup," Mr. Kim began at a press conference at Bukit Jalil Stadium on the morning of June 9. "However, I believe that if the Vietnamese team brings into play its inherent strengths, we can absolutely create a worthy and inspiring result."
The Korean strategist also acknowledged the difficulties Malaysia brought when calling up 30 players, including 18 who are playing abroad and 5 who are joining the national team for the first time. "This makes analyzing and evaluating opponents more complicated, especially with names that we have little information about. However, the whole team has prepared carefully and will continue to study carefully until the ball rolls," said Coach Kim.
Currently, the Vietnamese team, according to the Korean strategist, is in a state of readiness both physically and mentally. "We understand that to go far, we must overcome the most difficult challenges - and the match against Malaysia is one of them. But recently, the Vietnamese team has shown good form when facing this opponent, and that is the motivation for us to aim for a positive result," Mr. Kim affirmed.
"The whole team is highly focused, preparing carefully with the highest determination. Let's wait for the final result. Because success always lies in the hands of those who are willing to make sacrifices and make efforts to the end," Coach Kim concluded.
Meanwhile, center back Do Duy Manh said at a press conference before the match: "Tomorrow is a match of special importance for the Vietnamese team in Group F, and it will take place away from home, so it will definitely not be easy. Personally, I think this will be a big challenge."
"However, the whole team has prepared carefully in terms of tactics and spirit to aim for the best result against Malaysia. We always strictly follow the tactics set out by the coaching staff, and will try our best to perform our best in tomorrow's match," Duy Manh added.
Malaysia has the same 3 points but is behind Vietnam in Group F due to a lower goal difference in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. If they win at home at Bukit Jalil on June 10, they will not only surpass Vietnam but also open the door to the next round.
In the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, only the group winners will qualify for the finals. With a strong squad and high determination, the home team Malaysia has shown thorough preparation both tactically and mentally. Meanwhile, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team must maintain their composure when playing away.
