The draw put the Vietnamese women's team in Group C with Japan, India and Taiwan (China) at the 2026 Asian Cup finals.
Coach Mai Duc Chung assessed: “Japan is still the strongest team in Asia and will win first place in Group C. The Vietnamese women's team must compete for second place in the group with the remaining two opponents, India and Taiwan (China). These opponents are all strong and pose difficult challenges. We need to be well prepared and have high determination in the upcoming finals.”

Meanwhile, striker Huynh Nhu said: "The opponents in the group are quite familiar with the Vietnamese women's team. I think this is a group where we are completely capable of winning a ticket to the final round."
The 2026 Women's Asian Cup will take place from March 1 to March 21, 2026 in three cities: Sydney, Perth and Gold Coast - the same venues that hosted the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup. The tournament will feature 12 teams, including host Australia, Bangladesh, China, Chinese Taipei, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, India, Iran, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Uzbekistan and Vietnam. The top two teams in each group and the two best third-placed teams will advance to the quarter-finals.
At the finals, the six best teams qualify directly for the World Cup (four semi-finalists and two winners of the play-off for the four quarter-final losers). The two teams ranked 7th and 8th compete in the intercontinental play-off round organized by FIFA.
