2023 University Admissions for Pedagogy Majors: Will be balanced and allocated appropriately so that candidates are not surprised

In the 2023 enrollment plan of 5,879 full-time university students of Quy Nhon University, there are a total of 1,874 students for 15 pedagogical majors. However, due to the fact that in 2022 the enrollment quota assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training for the university's pedagogical majors has decreased sharply, this year Associate Professor, Dr. Do Ngoc My, Rector of Quy Nhon University, provided additional information on some issues so that candidates can prepare for the 2023 university entrance exam more clearly.

● Last year's university entrance exam, Quy Nhon University also announced its enrollment plan for similar pedagogical majors this year, but then the Ministry of Education and Training reduced the enrollment quota by nearly half, surprising many candidates. Will this situation happen again this year, sir?

- University admission in 2023 for the pedagogical sector is part of the school's general admission plan. The characteristic of this sector is that Quy Nhon University's training capacity is very large with more than 1,800 quotas according to capacity. However, for the pedagogical sector, the Ministry of Education and Training will assign enrollment quotas based on the teacher needs of localities in the next 4 years.

It is expected that this year, the Ministry of Education and Training will assign nearly 1,000 quotas to the school. When the Ministry of Education and Training officially announces the quotas in the near future, the school will balance and allocate appropriately between admission methods so as not to have to make adjustments that would surprise candidates like in the recent 2022 university entrance exam.

Accordingly, some majors also have fewer quotas than every year. However, for majors with fewer quotas, the Ministry of Education and Training will also balance and announce a reasonable number of quotas to facilitate schools in implementing training. The least quota for majors is expected to be about 20.

● Along with the enrollment quota, the issue that candidates are currently concerned about in the school's pedagogical majors is whether the benchmark score will increase sharply like last year in some majors, especially majors with few quotas?

- The standard score of a training major is high or low depending on the number of candidates applying for that major, not necessarily the major with few quotas has a high standard score.

Majors with many quotas and many candidates applying for admission still have high admission scores, such as Primary Education and English Pedagogy. On the contrary, majors with few quotas but not many candidates applying for admission still have low admission scores, such as Political Education and Biology Pedagogy.

● Did the reduction in enrollment quotas last year have any impact…

- The school has implemented early admission for the 2023 admission season according to regulations from the beginning of April 2023 at http://tsd.qnu.edu.vn. Up to now, statistics show that the number of candidates registering for pedagogical majors is quite large. I think this number will increase because the plan is for students to register until the end of June 2023, then register for admission based on high school graduation exam scores.

● In 2023, Quy Nhon University will use the results of the Hanoi National University of Education's competency assessment exam to enroll in pedagogical majors. Is this a way for the school to attract more candidates?

- This year's university admissions have 4 admission methods.

In which, direct admission is carried out according to the admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Considering the 2023 high school graduation exam scores, the quota ratio for the pedagogical majors of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Literature, English, Primary Education, and Preschool Education is 70%; the remaining pedagogical majors are 50%.

Considering high school transcripts for pedagogical majors: Grade 12 academic performance ranked from excellent or high school graduation score from 8.0 or higher and the average score of 3 subjects for admission is from 24.0 or higher; for pedagogical majors, Information Technology, Biology, Political Education, History - Geography, Natural Sciences is from 21.0 or higher; for Physical Education major, grade 12 academic performance ranked from fair or higher or high school graduation score from 6.5 or higher and the average score of 3 subjects for admission is from 18.0 or higher.

With the results of the competency assessment exam, this year, in addition to the National Universities, the school also uses the results of Hanoi Pedagogical University as a suitable competency assessment method for admission to the pedagogical major.
