Hanoi does not change the admission schedule for the first grade
From July 1, the new government apparatus after the citywide arrangement will officially operate, many communes and wards will merge and no longer have district or county levels, while the plan to enroll preschool, grade 1 and grade 6 students in Hanoi has been approved since the end of March, causing many parents to worry about the possibility of changes or difficulties arising.
Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh Huyen (Dich Vong Hau ward, Cau Giay district, Hanoi) said that she is worried that after the merger, her youngest child, who is preparing to enter grade 1 in the 2025-2026 school year, will not be able to study at the same school as her sister because the school is located in another ward while Dich Vong A primary school is less than ten meters from her house.
On the contrary, with Ms. Huyen, there are parents who want to enroll according to the new arrangement plan because this parent's family will be in the same enrollment area as Dich Vong A school.
According to the plan to rearrange the commune-level administrative units, Hanoi has 526 communes and wards, and it is expected that after the rearrangement, the capital will have only 126 communes and wards. In response to questions from parents, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha affirmed that the goal set in organizing exams and admissions in the city in 2025 is to ensure progress and quality, without causing disruption or affecting students.
Despite the change in administrative units, Hanoi city still maintains the plan and time for organizing preschool, grade 1 and grade 6 enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year.
Ms. Ngo Thi Bich Thuy, Principal of Dich Vong A Primary School, Cau Giay District, said that the school has received the new school year enrollment plan from the Cau Giay District Department of Education and Training, which clearly states the enrollment quota and routes for the new school year.
"Therefore, we believe that the merger of commune-level administrative units will not affect school enrollment. This year, according to the plan, enrollment for the first level will take place in early July. Schools have been required to announce enrollment plans at least 30 days in advance instead of 15 days as in previous school years."
According to Ms. Nguyen My Hao, Principal of Mai Dich Secondary School, Cau Giay District, right after the holiday, in the first week of May, the school can announce enrollment so that parents can rest assured.
Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said that Hanoi has announced detailed enrollment targets and enrollment routes for primary grades according to districts from the end of March 2025. Schools in the city will implement enrollment plans for the new school year from July 1 for kindergartens, and enrollment for grades 1 and 6 for the 2025-2026 school year.
Admission work for the new school year is still being carried out as planned.
Ho Chi Minh City enrolls students 2 months earlier than last year
With the method of enrolling students at the beginning of the school year based on the principle of "studying near home", not divided by administrative boundaries of wards and communes, in the new school year 2025-2026, Ho Chi Minh City will base on the capacity to receive, the number of children in grades 1 and 6 and the current residence of students, localities will arrange flexible study places, convenient for students and their families to travel and pick up.
To implement this plan, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said that before April 3, preschool and primaryeducation institutions will review and update final year student data on the industry database at https://csdl.hcm.edu.vn; Verify student identification data with the national population database;
Synchronize final year student data from industry database to primary school enrollment database. At the same time, notify parents of the city's primary school enrollment page login account.
Since the beginning of April, parents of 5-year-old and 5-year-old students and parents of 6-year-old children who have not yet attended preschool have checked information on the city's admissions website at https://tuyensinhdaucap.hcm.edu.vn. Educational institutions will adjust and update student information if parents request adjustments.
After the Department of Education and Training updates enrollment information, parents can start registering their children for school from May 24-29. The results of the first round of enrollment will be announced on June 14. After that, the locality will continue to consider the second round until the end of June.
Enrollment will be completed in June, two months earlier than every year, and enrollment for the new school year will also be completed before the administrative arrangement of wards and communes is carried out.
