During the FIFA Days in September, although there were no international friendly matches, the Vietnamese team still had a quality match with two domestic "blue teams", Nam Dinh Steel and CAHN. In the match against Nam Dinh Steel on September 4, against an opponent with a "huge" foreign squad, Tien Linh and his teammates suffered a 0-4 defeat.

Despite the heavy loss, the Vietnamese team learned many lessons from this match. Assistant coach Dinh Hong Vinh's team must do better in defending against high balls, covering and concentrating the defense. Thep Xanh Nam Dinh used a formation with 11 "Westerners" creating many difficulties for the "Golden Star Warriors".

To be fair, if Vietnam had a full squad, it would have been different. The departure of Doan Ngoc Tan, Hai Long and Quang Hai meant that the team's midfield could not gain control of the ball, making it difficult to create situations to approach the opponent's goal.

In this training session, coach Kim Sang Sik gave opportunities to many new faces such as goalkeeper Quan Van Chuan ( Hanoi ), defender Tran Hoang Phuc (HCM City Police), Dinh Quang Kiet (HAGL), midfielder Ly Cong Hoang Anh (Nam Dinh), striker Pham Gia Hung (Ninh Binh). These players were all sent onto the field by assistant Dinh Hong Vinh in the match against Nam Dinh Blue Steel to evaluate their ability and adaptability.

In the next match, the Vietnamese team will face CAHN. This is also a "blue team" that is not easy to play against, possessing many famous names in Vietnamese football, along with foreign players and quality overseas Vietnamese players. In addition, the leader of CAHN, Coach Polking, is not only talented in coaching but also understands the Vietnamese team very well.

This continues to be a challenging match for the 2024 ASEAN Cup champion, but coach Dinh Hong Vinh and his team are determined to get a good result against CAHN, in order to prepare for the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup, which will return next October.

The friendly match between Vietnam and CAHN will kick off at 5:00 p.m. on September 7 at the VFF Youth Football Training Center.
