The central exchange rate between the Vietnamese Dong (VND) and the US Dollar (USD) announced by the State Bank today is 24,005 VND/USD, up 12 VND compared to last weekend. This is the first time the central exchange rate has exceeded 24,000 VND.
Recently, the central exchange rate has been continuously adjusted upward by the State Bank, in the context of the greenback constantly climbing in the international market.
Last week, the central rate increased by 34 VND. Since the beginning of the year, the central rate has increased by a total of 393 VND.
Applying a 5% margin, commercial banks are allowed to trade at today's ceiling rate of VND25,205/USD and the floor rate of VND22,804/USD.
The reference buying rate today is maintained by the State Bank of Vietnam at 23,440 VND/USD. The reference selling rate is listed at 25,155 VND/USD.
Meanwhile, the USD/VND exchange rate at commercial banks today tends to cool down. The USD selling price at banks all decreased slightly compared to the trading session at the end of last week (September 8) but still maintained the mark of 24,000 VND/USD (selling).
Specifically, at 11:38 a.m. on September 11, Vietcombank listed the USD price at 23,855-24,225 VND/USD (buy - sell), down 15 VND/USD in both buying and selling compared to the morning of September 8.
At the same time, Vietinbank traded USD at 23,809 VND/USD (buy) and 24,229 VND/USD (sell), down 22 VND/USD in both directions compared to the morning of September 8.
Techcombank bought USD at 23,879 VND/USD and sold at 24,227 VND/USD. Compared to the morning of September 8, the USD price at Techcombank this afternoon decreased by 28 VND/USD for buying and 31 VND/USD for selling.
Sacombank listed the USD price at 23,854-24,207 VND/USD (buy - sell), down 16 VND/USD for buying and down 23 VND/USD for selling compared to the morning of September 8.
In the free market, the USD price today (September 11) is commonly traded around 24,100-24,180 VND/USD (buy - sell), unchanged from the previous session.
In the international market, the USD price today tends to slow down after rising to a high level. The US Dollar Index (DXY) - measuring the fluctuations of the US dollar against a basket of 6 major currencies - today slipped below the 105 point mark.
At 12:00 today (September 11, Vietnam time), the DXY index was at 104.57 points, down 0.49% compared to the previous session.
