In the international market, the DXY index slightly decreased by 0.55 points compared to last week, to 99.23 points, continuing to maintain the lowest level of the index in more than 3 years.
Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said Wednesday that the Fed will wait for more data on the direction of the economy before changing interest rates, but warned that President Donald Trump's tariff policies risk pushing inflation and employment further away from the central bank's goals. Trump on Thursday called on the central bank to cut interest rates.
The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits fell last week, suggesting labor market conditions remained solid in April.
Rising US inflationary pressures have fueled expectations that the Fed will soon cut interest rates, thereby reducing the attractiveness of the USD.
Money market traders are currently pricing in around 86 basis points of Fed rate cuts by the end of 2025, with the first cut expected in July, according to the CME FedWatch tool.
