Forest cover rate of Dien Bien province reaches 43.54%

Delegates attend the conference to deploy forestry tasks in 2024.

Over the past year, the forest rangers have proactively done a good job of advising the People's Committees at all levels , departments and branches on the forestry sector . The tasks assigned by the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development have all been completed well, ensuring progress and quality.

The Forest Protection Department has advised and directed the completion of 13/13 targets assigned by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, some targets exceeded the assigned plan such as: Concentrated forest protection reached 373.6% ; scattered trees reached 964% ; forest patrol reached 108.3% ... The direction, operation, inspection and supervision of the Department for its affiliated units are carried out regularly and seriously. Strengthening the prevention and suppression of violations; resolute in investigating, promptly and effectively handling cases of violations of forestry laws. During the year, the forest protection force handled 313 cases ( 269 administrative cases and 44 criminal cases ); confiscated 138,395m3 ^of various types of wood . The total amount paid to the budget was 1,837 billion VND .

Strengthening coordination in propaganda and legaleducation on forest protection and development has created a strong change in awareness, consciousness and responsibility of agencies, organizations, enterprises, cadres, party members and people . In 2023, the whole province has well protected a forest area of 415,361.35 hectares, with a forest cover rate of 43.54% . The management of planning for 3 types of forests, conversion of forest use purposes, and forests outside the planning are strictly managed; information technology is effectively applied in forest protection management and fire prevention and control, especially early detection of forest fires, deforestation and monitoring of forest developments .

The conference agreed on 9 main tasks of the forestry sector in 2024. To complete the goals, the Forestry Sub-Department focused on a number of key solutions: Improving the quality of consulting and proposing state management of forests and forestry land in the area; directing forest ranger units to coordinate with relevant departments , offices and units, strengthening consulting for the district -level People 's Committees to issue documents directing the implementation of forest management, protection and development, ensuring compliance with forestry laws in the management area ; directing the good management and protection of existing forest areas, increased forest areas, and forest areas outside the planning . At the same time, strengthening coordination, inspection and supervision of task performance at units.
