According to data released by the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted this year has 3,926 applications for the first choice. With 805 quotas, the competition ratio to enter the school is 1/4.88.
Meanwhile, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted has less than half the number of students registered at Le Hong Phong School with 1,624 applications. However, the school's enrollment quota is only 455, the competition ratio is 1/3.57.
With the integrated English program according to project 5695, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School has the highest competition ratio of 1/3.63, higher than the competition ratio for grade 10 specialized at Tran Dai Nghia school.
This school has 35 vacancies for the 10th grade integrated English program but has 127 applications.
Ranked 2nd is Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School with a competition ratio of 1/2.52.
The 3 schools with competition ratios below 1 are Mac Dinh Chi (1/0.84), Phu Nhuan (1/0.77) and Luong The Vinh (1/0.66).

The 10th grade entrance exam in 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City will take place on June 6-7.
Candidates will take three exams: Literature, Math, English (and other foreign languages). Candidates will take the Math and Literature exams in 120 minutes and the foreign language exam in 90 minutes. Candidates applying to specialized schools will take an additional exam in specialized subjects (150 minutes).
This year, Ho Chi Minh City has about 89,000 junior high school graduates. The total quota for grade 10 public schools in the city is about 70,000. Although the quota has decreased slightly, due to the decrease in the number of students, the public school passing rate has increased by 14% compared to 2024, reaching 79%.
