Vanity Fair quoted sources close to Mr. Murdoch as saying that the 92-year-old media billionaire may have ended his engagement to Ms. Ann Lesley Smith, 66, a former radio host.
The news comes as Murdoch and Smith announced their wedding plans two weeks ago. Murdoch had already finalized his divorce from his fourth wife, model Jerry Hall.
Neither Mr. Murdoch nor Ms. Smith have commented on the reports.
In an article published in the New York Post on March 20, Mr. Murdoch said he met Ms. Smith in September 2022 when she visited his Moraga Estate vineyard in Bel Air, California, USA.
"I was so nervous. I was scared to fall in love - but I knew it would be my last time. It was best that way. I'm happy," he said in late March.
Ms Smith said at the time that she and Mr Murdoch, who owns major news sites and newspapers such as Fox News and the Wall Street Journal, had a connection as her ex-husband was also in the media industry.
Sources told Vanity Fair that they did not know the exact reason why Mr Murdoch may have broken off the engagement, but one possible reason was that the American billionaire seemed unhappy with Ms Smith's religious views.
Billionaire Murdoch is not only famous as the Chairman of Fox Corp, founder of the media empire News Corp or the owner of a fortune of 17.6 billion USD, but he is also known as a womanizer with 4 marriages and divorces.
He was previously married to former flight attendant Patricia Booker, journalist Anna Murdoch and businesswoman Wendi Deng. He has six children. In 2016, he married his fourth wife, former model Jerry Hall, at St. Bride's Church, London Road. They divorced in August 2022.
