Connecting the world's scientific elite at Summer School in Vietnam

From June 9-20, the Advanced Summer School on Quantum Field Theory and Quantum Gravity 2025 took place at the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh Province). With the participation of more than 60 scientists from 22 countries and territories, the event was considered an important step forward in enhancing the position of Vietnam's basic science in the international arena.

The event was jointly organized by the Vietnam Rencontres du Vietnam, the ICISE Center and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN, France), aiming to create an environment for in-depth exchange on the latest advances in the field of theoretical physics.

This year's summer school brings together more than 60 leading scientists in the field, young scientists and postgraduates, from 22 countries and territories including: India, China, USA, Vietnam, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Russia, Taiwan (China), Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Honduras, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Poland and South Korea.

According to information from the ICISE Center, speaking at the opening ceremony, Professor Laurent Baulieu, Laboratory of Theoretical Physics and High Energy (LPTHE), Sorbonne University, France - Head of the Organizing Committee, and the initiator of the Summer School nearly 30 years ago, said: "In 2021, after many careful discussions, we decided on a major turning point: moving the biennial summer schools - which have been very successful in France (Cargèse and Les Houches) - to be held at ICISE, Quy Nhon, starting from 2023. This is an important decision, but we believe it is the right step.

I have always been deeply impressed by Professor Tran Thanh Van's vision, especially his founding of ICISE - a center built to inspire and connect the academic community. With all that in mind, bringing the summer school to ICISE, Quy Nhon is an inevitable development."

From its origins at the Cargèse Science Conference Center (France), this Summer School series has gone through more than 14 sessions, attracting more than 1,000 international students, many of whom have become world- leading scientists.

Professor Tran Thanh Van, Chairman of the Rencontres du Vietnam Association, said: The Quantum Summer School is not only an intensive training course, but also an international forum where students from the US, France, Germany, Japan, India, China, Ireland, Israel, Brazil, Iran, Argentina, Indonesia, Korea, Vietnam, etc. meet, learn and broaden their scientific horizons.

Through lectures, group discussions and direct interactions with professors, students will approach core principles as well as the latest research directions in quantum field theory and quantum gravity - the foundations that are promoting technology fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, particle physics and materials technology...

The 2025 Advanced Summer School on Quantum Field Theory and Quantum Gravity will help raise Vietnam’s profile and position on the international scientific map. At the same time, the event will contribute to making Quy Nhon city a prestigious academic destination, where the pinnacle of world science and Vietnam’s thirst for knowledge intersect.
