Patriotic emulation - The driving force for innovation and creativity of the Vietnamese working class

With the theme "Emulating innovation, digital transformation, improving labor productivity, confidently entering the new era with the country", the 11th National Emulation Congress of workers, civil servants and laborers affirmed that emulation is not only a spirit but also a specific solution to improve productivity, promote digital transformation and ensure the lives of workers in the current context.

On the morning of October 26, in Hanoi , the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) organized the 11th National Emulation Congress for workers, civil servants, and laborers, for the 2025-2030 period.

Attending the program were Mr. Do Van Chien, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and 400 outstanding delegates - representing typical, advanced collectives and individuals in the patriotic emulation movement over the past 5 years.

Spread the bright spots

In his speech directing the Congress, Mr. Do Van Chien emphasized that, imbued with the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh : "Competition is patriotism, patriotism requires emulation, those who emulate are the most patriotic", over the past 5 years, the emulation movement among workers, civil servants and laborers has had many new, creative, practical and effective developments.

In recent times, trade unions at all levels have linked emulation movements with the political tasks of agencies and units and the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle; widely deployed movements such as "Good worker", "Creative worker", "Good at public work, good at housework", "Green - clean - beautiful, safe, hygienic work", "Innovation, creativity, efficiency in trade union activities".

In particular, the programs "75 thousand initiatives to overcome difficulties and develop" and "1 million initiatives - efforts to overcome difficulties, creativity, determination to defeat the Covid-19 pandemic" have demonstrated the creative spirit and will to overcome difficulties of the working class, contributing to the whole country's victory over the pandemic.

On key national projects such as the 500kV line 3 from Quang Binh to Hung Yen, the 500kV line from Phu Tho to Lao Cai and many other projects, workers, civil servants and laborers have "overcome the sun, overcome the rain, and not lost to the storm", contributing to ensuring the progress and quality of the projects. From the emulation movement, thousands of initiatives and solutions of economic and technical value have been born, many typical examples have been honored and widely spread.

According to Chairman Do Van Chien, in the context of the country entering a new era, the Trade Union organization needs to innovate its thinking, content and methods of organizing emulation movements, with the spirit: "Innovation is the driving force, digital transformation is the method, labor productivity is the measure, improved living standards, sustainable employment is the goal".

Trade Unions at all levels need to thoroughly grasp the direction of General Secretary To Lam: "The new model must have new thinking, new ways of doing things, new efficiency", and well implement Directive No. 41-CT/TW dated December 26, 2024 of the Politburo on strengthening the Party's leadership in emulation and reward work in the new situation. The leader must directly direct and take responsibility for the emulation movement within the scope of management, taking emulation effectiveness as a criterion for evaluating cadres' capacity.

Trade unions at all levels are requested to proactively respond to emulation movements launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Government and the Central Emulation and Reward Council, especially movements associated with digital transformation, innovation, human resource development, green production, and labor productivity improvement. Along with that, it is necessary to focus on summarizing, rewarding, and promptly praising outstanding collectives and individuals; leaders must set an example, take the lead in organizing emulation and set an example for cadres and workers to follow.

Propaganda work, discovery, replication of advanced models, strong application of digital technology and social networks need to be strengthened to spread good people, good deeds, good models, and creative ways of doing things; arouse the spirit of patriotic emulation, promote the will of self-reliance, creativity, and contribute to building a rich, prosperous, and happy country.

Launching the new phase of emulation movement

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang affirmed that over the past 5 years, patriotic emulation movements among workers, civil servants and laborers have developed strongly in both breadth and depth, becoming a great spiritual driving force, encouraging workers to promote the spirit of initiative, creativity, overcoming difficulties and excellently completing tasks.

According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang, the Congress is an opportunity to summarize and evaluate the results achieved, draw lessons and propose directions and solutions to continue innovation, promote emulation movements, do a good job of commendation; recognize the contributions of workers, civil servants and laborers in socio-economic development, and at the same time arouse the pioneering spirit of the working class in the period of innovation.

In the context of the country entering a new development stage with many fundamental changes, the revolution in organizational apparatus, administrative reform, comprehensive digital transformation, green economic development, knowledge economy... posing great requirements and challenges for trade union organizations, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang emphasized the importance of turning emulation and rewards into catalysts for innovation and sustainable development.

On behalf of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang launched the emulation movement for the period 2025-2030 with the theme: "Competing in innovation, digital transformation, improving labor productivity, confidently entering a new era with the country".

On this occasion, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor honored 37 collectives and 43 individuals who were outstanding in the emulation movement of workers, civil servants, and laborers nationwide in the period of 2020-2025. The Congress also approved the list of delegates to attend the 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress.
