U.17 Indonesia secures top spot thanks to head-to-head advantage
With 2 wins, the U.17 Indonesia team quickly booked a ticket to the quarter-finals of the 2025 U.17 Asian Cup and a place in the 2025 U.17 World Cup finals in Qatar in November. They also secured the top spot, having defeated both South Korea and Yemen, the two teams still competing for the remaining spot in Group C to continue. Meanwhile, the Afghanistan team was eliminated.

In the final round of Group C taking place at the same time, at 0:15 on April 11, if the U.17 Indonesia team loses to Afghanistan, with 6 points, they will still be better than the other 2 teams in terms of direct confrontation criteria.
The U.17 team of Korea and Yemen (both with 3 points) met, one of these two teams if winning would get the maximum score of 6 points. Meanwhile, a draw would be enough to help U.17 Korea advance with the second place in the group, thanks to a better goal difference than Yemen (+5 compared to -1). These results do not affect the current ranking of U.17 Indonesia.
According to AFC (Asian Football Confederation) regulations, if there are 2 or more teams with the same number of points in the group stage of the U.17 Asian Cup, the first criterion for ranking will be the direct confrontation between the teams with the same number of points, then the goal difference and the total number of goals scored by which team...
Thanks to this, the U.17 Indonesia team is "relaxing" with the top spot in the group and waiting to see who their opponent is in the quarter-finals, with the top spot in Group C meeting the second team in Group D on April 14.
However, they will have to wait until the last round of the group stage on April 12 (Vietnam time) to find out who their opponents are.
Because in the second round of Group D taking place on April 8 and 9, it is still impossible to determine which team will get the ticket to continue and the first and second place in the group. All 4 teams in this group, including U.17 DPRK (currently with 4 points) temporarily hold the top position, followed by Tajikistan and Oman (both with 3 points) and Iran at the bottom of the table (1 point), all still have the opportunity to continue and the order in the group can be completely changed with any result after the final round ends (April 12).
In the final round of Group D, U.17 Iran will face Tajikistan, while U.17 Oman will face the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The results of these two key matches will decide the two spots to advance and the first and second place in the group. Since they are still unsure of their opponents, the U.17 Indonesia team, which had the freedom to choose their opponents, now has to wait until the last minute.
Similarly in group B, all 4 teams including U.17 Vietnam, Japan, Australia and UAE still have a chance to continue and compete for first and second place in the group.
If the U.17 Vietnam team wins against the UAE (at 10:00 p.m. on April 10) to advance and qualify for the World Cup, then in the quarter-finals, regardless of first or second place in the group, they will meet very strong teams, U.17 Saudi Arabia or Uzbekistan (the two teams have advanced in group A and the final match at 0:15 a.m. on April 10 is only to determine first or second place in the group).
