This morning (May 25), U16 Vietnam left for Honhot city, Inner Mongolia, China to participate in the CFA Team China 2025 U16 international tournament. Before that, U16 Vietnam had a practice match with U17 Viettel to review the force, evaluate the overall playing style, and complete the registration list to participate in this international tournament.
After the training session, the coaching staff finalized the list of 24 players, saying goodbye to 6 faces including: goalkeeper Vu Duy Anh, defender Le Nguyen Khanh, Nguyen Bao Nam, midfielder Tran Ngoc Son, Bui Gia Huan and Phan Anh Luc.

Coach Cristiano Roland admitted that making a decision on personnel selection was not without difficulty because all the players had very good spirit and attitude.
However, the Brazilian coach shared that this is just the beginning of a long journey to prepare for the 2026 AFC U17 qualifiers. Players whose names are not on the selected list this time still have many opportunities in the future.
Coach Cristiano Roland commented: "The finalizing stage of the official list is always the most difficult. The coaching staff must choose from a group of quality players, finding those who best suit the team's playing style.
Up to this point, the whole team has performed very well. However, this is just the beginning of a long journey towards the 2026 AFC U17 qualifiers. Players who are not on the list still have many opportunities ahead."
According to the plan, the Vietnam U16 team will have 2 more days to practice and get used to the weather conditions in Honhot before entering the opening match against U16 Australia at 1:00 p.m. on May 28. The next two matches of coach Cristiano Roland and his team will take place at 6:35 p.m. on May 30 against U16 China and at 1:00 p.m. on June 1 against U16 Saudi Arabia.
Evaluating the CFA Team China 2025 International U16 Tournament, Coach Cristiano Roland emphasized: "This is the first test for the new generation of players. The three opponents in the tournament are all very strong, so the requirements for the attitude and spirit of the U16 Vietnam team will be pushed to the maximum.
These three matches are also an opportunity for the players to clearly understand where they are in comparison to the Asian level. The team will make the best use of the matches to gain experience and work towards the important goal ahead, which is the 2026 AFC U17 Qualifiers."
