With only three teams in Group B, U23 Vietnam has reduced the competition density and the opportunity to win one of the two leading positions in the group is almost within reach of the defending champion. In 2023, U23 Vietnam won the championship after defeating U23 Indonesia in the penalty shootout in the final match. This is the second consecutive time U23 Vietnam has won the regional youth championship, after doing the same in 2022.

Meanwhile, Group A is considered the group of death with the participation of Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Brunei. The competition in this group promises to be fierce, especially when Indonesia and Malaysia are both investing heavily in youth football and aiming to conquer the title. Group C includes Thailand, Myanmar and Timor Leste. This is not an easy group for Thailand as Myanmar has always been a tough opponent at the U23 level.

As the champion team in the last two tournaments, U23 Vietnam is certainly a strong candidate for the throne. However, the coaching staff needs to carefully calculate the force as well as the playing style, because this tournament is often an opportunity for experimentation, many teams use new faces, full of desire to show off.

The U23 Southeast Asian Championship is not only an opportunity for young players to gain international experience but also a springboard for the national team's head coach to evaluate and discover new talent. The U23 Southeast Asian Championship will take place in Indonesia. After the draw, the teams will soon finalize the call-up list and enter the preparation phase. With the goal of defending the championship, U23 Vietnam is expected to continue to affirm its position in the Southeast Asian youth arena.
