Although rated lower, U23 Cambodia also wants to defeat U23 Vietnam to be able to win a ticket to the semi-finals.
Final training
Leading U23 Cambodia to face U23 Vietnam, coach Koji Gyotoku has many players who have played for the Cambodian national team. Notable players include striker Hav Soknet and defender Phat Sokha - the player who scored a beautiful goal against U23 Laos in the 1-1 draw.
However, the possibility of U23 Cambodia creating a surprise against U23 Vietnam is very difficult even though coach Kim Sang Sik's team did not play convincingly in the opening match.
Vietnam U23 controlled the ball 80% in the victory over Laos U23, fired 20 shots (compared to only 2 shots from the opponent) but only shot accurately 8 times and scored 3 goals. Of which, 2 goals were from set pieces.
This shows that the ability to finish in open ball situations of U23 Vietnam has not reached the expected level even though the opponent is only defending. Therefore, in the last two training sessions, Coach Kim Sang Sik has focused on training his players to finish on goal in order to improve their scoring efficiency.
Key striker Quoc Viet was directly demonstrated by Mr. Kim on the dribbling and finishing moves. "After the match against U23 Laos, the whole team sat down to watch the entire match tape to gain experience. The coaching staff also spent time analyzing more thoroughly in the technical meeting for the match against U23 Cambodia," midfielder Cong Phuong shared.
Adjust the midline
Despite having many excellent central midfielders, the midfield of the U23 Vietnam team did not play well in the victory over U23 Laos. The duo Van Truong - Thai Son showed a lack of cohesion, not creating enough breakthroughs in the playing style when the opponent defended in large numbers.
Laos U23 was weak, but Thai Son even received a yellow card to stop his opponent from dribbling. Coach Kim Sang Sik's adjustments in midfield in the second half also did not show any improvement.
With such a midfield, the play of U23 Vietnam could not operate smoothly and posed a real danger to U23 Laos. The Vietnamese players even made many bad passes, especially the final shots in the penalty area.
Except for Khuat Van Khang's opening goal, which was a beautiful combination attack from the left flank, which is the strength of U23 Vietnam, the remaining two goals were thanks to the excellence of center-back Hieu Minh when he joined the attack from a corner kick.

Personnel changes
In addition to perfecting the playing style so that the U23 Vietnam team can play better in their journey to conquer the championship, Coach Kim Sang Sik will also make some changes to the main lineup for the match against U23 Cambodia. Dinh Bac's injury is not serious as it is only muscle overload and he must practice separately under the guidance of a doctor.
However, this striker needs to rest to regain his strength for the semi-final match. Choosing who will replace Dinh Bac is a simple matter. But what Mr. Kim needs is to choose the right piece to help increase the ability to penetrate the attack of the U23 Vietnam team.
Having only replaced Quoc Viet at halftime in the victory over U23 Laos, Viktor Le will most likely start in the match against U23 Cambodia. The only problem is whether coach Kim Sang Sik will arrange for this Vietnamese-Russian player to start in place of Dinh Bac in the attack or let him "play the ball" in the midfield to replace Thai Son - who did not play well in the first match, and also to avoid Thai Son receiving another penalty card and having to sit out the semi-finals.
Perhaps Viktor Le's ability to play in midfield will be higher, because in the match against U23 Laos, Viktor Le did not show his sharpness when he was put on the field to play as a striker.
